We put the kettle on for a long boil and this Scottish wee heavy is what we got. Rich Caramel is complemented by sea salt for a complex intense flavour. Another? Aye

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2014 Pretty much as others have said. Dark amber with light tan head. Clean, caramel in the aroma. First impressions in taste are deep caramel notes with pears or apples mixed in. Finishes lighter than I would have liked but there is no overwhelming aftertaste and ends clean. I would drink it again with friends to discuss, but it isn’t a "go to" beer for me. *Note * Waaaaay better when drunk at at the recommended temperature. Let it warm up out of the fridge.

650ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours an amber-brown color with a small off-white head that has fair retention. The aroma is mild with nuts, caramel and brown sugars. The taste is that of a big caramel malt bomb accented nicely with some pears and mildly spicy hops. The palate is uneven starting full but finishing thin, and the carbonation is soft. The finish was short and sweet. Overall: A lot of subtle nuances going on in this one, a must try for malt lovers fer sure, but not really my preference.

Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours murky brown with lots of floaties. There is a modest beige head and a toffee aroma. The flavor is mostly sweet caramel, but it is indeed quite salty with a rather bitter finish. This is a unique brew that is fun to drink, but won’t be on my top 10 list.

Pours a tangerine-amber color with a short off white head. A more of a fruity nose than was expected. Some light caramel comes through secondarily. Moderately thick with sufficient carbination burn. A lot of caramel comes through. Some tart fruit underlies the caramel.

Clear copper amber, tan head. Aroma is salt, caramel and bread. Taste is caramel, toffee, bread and nuts, finishing salty and lingering. Medium body, low carbonation. Not bad, but a bit odd.

Bottle: Slightly hazy amber with a small, beige head. Caramel, salt aroma. Taste is salty-sweet, rich caramel malt, nuts, toast. Sweet..malty.... Nicely salted.

Draft - Sweet caramel and salted taffy. Clear copper with a thin white head. Sweet salted caramel, kinda like the cheap caramels for Halloween. Not bad and a bit nutty throughout.
