COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We put the kettle on for a long boil and this Scottish wee heavy is what we got. Rich Caramel is complemented by sea salt for a complex intense flavour. Another? Aye

Tallahassee, Fl, Momoís - 22 oz bomber. Murky, medium brown pour, very slight eggshell white head. Aroma has some caramel sweetness, some sea salt saltiness. Similar flavor profile with the same caramel and salty goodness, which is a flavor I seek out. A bit of booziness in the back end, but an enjoyable diversion. Nice smooth mouthfeel.

22 ounce bottle - $9.00 at Tasty Beverage Co. in Asheville, North Carolina. Appearance: Pours a clear, brown-amber body with a smallish, ring-forming collection of off-white bubbles. Smell: A sugary, sweet-scented nose atop caramelized maltiness, a vibrant fruitiness running throughout and a little sniff of alcohol. Taste: As implied by the nose, itís sugary, itís sweet with a strong candyish quality (though not an overtly rich-tasting caramel flavor) ahead of the toasty, bready malts. A little vanilla. Plump grape, red berry fruitiness, a little tangy and carried through the finish. Sugary, fruity finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, a wee bit sticky. Medium-plus carbonation. Overall: Iíd hoped for a fine scotch ale and hoped it to be bolstered by a tasty salty caramel bent. Iím not sure either hope was really well realized.

Pours clear deep amber with a short, short-lived light tan head, no lacing. (3/5) Nose is caramel, mild brine, lightly boozy. (6/10) Taste is moderate sweet, mild bitter, mild salt. (6/10) Medium body, low carbonation, fairly abrupt finish. (3/5) About what I expected - which is to say, something that could easily have come in an I&G bottle. Not disappointing, as such - because I had no heightened expectations. Not unpleasant, and mildly interesting with the salted caramel, but hardly exciting. (12/20)

The lighter side of scotch ales. For me not the best that comes out of Parallel 49. Still proud to have this brewery in Vancouver.

Draught @ The Beacon, Whistler B.C. Clear red copper, yellowy head. Spicy caramel, rosebud, pleasant booziness. Balanced, but bit one dimensional.

Reddish-brown pour with a brown head. Aroma is caramel malt and sweetness. Taste is caramel malt, slight smoked malt, Tastes like a brown ale. Very good though. Slight salt taste and a little creamy. OK lacing.

22oz bottle picked up in Chicago, shared with the Madison crew. Malty, sort of more a Brown Ale than a Scotch. Malty and sweet, very pleasant and easy drinking. Caramel for sure, I donít get much salt. One of the best Brown Ales Iíve had in some time. Clean, drinkable, all around well done.
