We put the kettle on for a long boil and this Scottish wee heavy is what we got. Rich Caramel is complemented by sea salt for a complex intense flavour. Another? Aye

Pours clear deep amber with a short, short-lived light tan head, no lacing. (3/5) Nose is caramel, mild brine, lightly boozy. (6/10) Taste is moderate sweet, mild bitter, mild salt. (6/10) Medium body, low carbonation, fairly abrupt finish. (3/5) About what I expected - which is to say, something that could easily have come in an I&G bottle. Not disappointing, as such - because I had no heightened expectations. Not unpleasant, and mildly interesting with the salted caramel, but hardly exciting. (12/20)

The lighter side of scotch ales. For me not the best that comes out of Parallel 49. Still proud to have this brewery in Vancouver.

Draught @ The Beacon, Whistler B.C. Clear red copper, yellowy head. Spicy caramel, rosebud, pleasant booziness. Balanced, but bit one dimensional.

Reddish-brown pour with a brown head. Aroma is caramel malt and sweetness. Taste is caramel malt, slight smoked malt, Tastes like a brown ale. Very good though. Slight salt taste and a little creamy. OK lacing.

Quite a nice caramel taste. Any of the scotch or salt taste is not present. Itís a medium balanced beer. Just ok.

22oz bottle picked up in Chicago, shared with the Madison crew. Malty, sort of more a Brown Ale than a Scotch. Malty and sweet, very pleasant and easy drinking. Caramel for sure, I donít get much salt. One of the best Brown Ales Iíve had in some time. Clean, drinkable, all around well done.

A hazy light ruby color. No head. Sweet and salty, nutty aroma. A fun flavored Scotch, rich in toffee, caramel candy with that boozy kick.

Big bottle. Thanks to aabean bringing this back from California and sharing. Clear orange color. Ring of off-white head, kind of bubbly. Medium body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Light dry finish. A bit thinner than expected for a 7.5% scotch ale. Caramel malt, some mild dark fruit, and an interesting bit of saltiness, indeed. Moderate sweet taste taste accented by the bit of saltiness, and light to moderate bitter taste. Solid, easy-drinking scotch ale. Kind of refreshing for the style. Some actual caramel type flavor in the finish, too. Curious as to how old this is though? Probably much better fresh on tap, Iím thinking

Itís alright. Appearance: A honey red-brown with no head or lacing. Aroma: Sweet chocolate, toffee, caramel, with a surprisingly spicy overtone. Taste: Mild salted caramel, and thatís... really about it. Sour in the back. A very simple, straightforward taste profile. Palate: Sour and spicy in the back, smooth in the front, with a lingering high astringency that burns the mouth and becomes a distraction. Overall: The fact that itís burning my mouth isnít very promising. That aside, itís a basically alright beer, and delivers on its promise of a gently salted scotch ale.

Aroma is butterscotch, caramel, roasted malts, and sea salt. Light whiskey barrels notes with slight smokiness. Taste is thick, almost chewy mouthfeel with sweet malts. Caramel, vanilla, cocoa beans and toffee here aswell. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.
