2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
650ml brown bottle. Golden brown colour, some haze. Fat white head, good creamy bead and great lacing in the glass. Caramel nose. Taste has caramel sweetness, thick toffee, light peanut, slight salty note. Some grain in the finish, lighter caramel notes. Medium body, fine carbonation. No signs of any alcohol in this brew. Doesn’t hit the mark for me, the sweetness/richness of the caramel toffee thing gets tiring and doesn’t make it easy to drink.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Earthy malt raisin nose with a a hint of fruity esters. Has a caramel characteristic . Coppery coloured with a tan head and a good carbonation. Clear and inviting.. Big malty base with caramel characteristics and an interesting salty flavour, which fights to balance the crystal malt sweetness. Low or no discernible hop character , and almost cloying sweetness on the finish. No noticible peatiness. Somewhat doughy character to the yeast.. Medium bodied with a slickness on the tongue on the finish..carbonation at a farliy high rate fir style. Overall, a tasty 80 shilling with not much peat, but an interesting sweet/salt dynamic.

Poured as a taster at local shop. This smells of caramel and malt. Taste is somewhat anemic and not very full of flavor. There is a clear taste of caramel and salt, but it’s just not very fulfilling. Wanted to like it more, but just didn’t.

Pours a rich caramel colour with small head. Aroma is toffee, toasted barley, mild alcohol. Palate redolent of a salt-water caramel candy. Lovely caramel flavour. This is one of my favourite beers ever. Will have again and again.
