We put the kettle on for a long boil and this Scottish wee heavy is what we got. Rich Caramel is complemented by sea salt for a complex intense flavour. Another? Aye

650ml bottle pours brown in color with a finger and a half of off-white head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by caramel. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with a mild citrus and herbal bitterness. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. An interesting interpretation of the style and definitely worth a try.

The label wasnít too promising, but, you know... book... cover. I love Scotch Ales. And there arenít that that many out there, really. And Iíve not had too many Canadian craft beers that have impressed me, outside of Quebec. But hereís one! Really rich, full body and flavor. Granted, they achieve the caramel character through the addition of, well, caramel. Not caramelized malt, but actual caramel. Friends who were tasting it, too, commented, "Score Bar or Heath Bar." I agree. Not overly sweet -- but the perception of sweetness.

A very good scotch ale. Pours a bright ruby red with a thick white head. Smells of Carmel, sea salt and cherries. Taste is creamy, has lots of salty caramel and maple syrup right at the front, with some vanilla ice cream in the finish. Very good, and not as malty as many scotch ales.

22oz bottle pours out a hazy caramel color topped with a small sand head. Nose heavy caramel sweetness vanilla and a nice bread malt. Taste is as the nose with the caramel sweetness leading the way along with a nice malt to round out the sweetness.

Caramel colored pour. Small off white head. No lacing. Big aroma of caramel drowning anything else out. Taste is tons of Caramel with a slight note of malt. It is like they only wanted caramel.

Bottle into a snifter. Caramel in color, very soft haze. A soft layer of sandy tan. Red grapes, tangy and wine like. Subtle caramel, biscuits. Salty or just barely sour. I canít quite tell which. Noticeable alcohol flavor. Not caramel, per se. A little tangy, almost berry-like up front. Hint of toffee. A touch of toasty biscuits and, yes, salty caramel at the finish. Clean, and a little too light for what it is. Caramel, toffee, berries, booze. A touch of smoke. Grape juice. Better as it warms. Sweeter, toastier. Less a salty Scotsman, more a fruity Frenchman. Not that thatís such a terrible thing.

Appearance; Cloudy amber with thin white head Aroma: Bold caramel and malt aromas Taste: Sweet malted and flavor with toffee and hazelnut Overall: This beer definitely lives up to its name with a truly salty caramel flavor. Very similar to a typical double bock.

Bottle purchased at BevMo Midtown Sacramento. The aroma on this is very sweet and sugary with tons of caramel and a light buttery diacetyl. Overly sweet. Transparent amber body with a smallish, off-white head present. Kind of light in color. Starts with a sweet, sugary, cloying buttery and toffee flavoring. Light-bodied. More sweetness late. This is a sugar bomb, and just not very good at all.
