COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pour this medium-bodied Imperial IPA for a bit of snap and crackle - and plenty of hop. Brewed with Motueka hops from New Zealand, it starts dry and finishes crisp.

650 ml bottle purchased at the Rideau & King Edward LCBO (Ottawa) on August 24, 2014. Murky copper, small head. Light hoppy arome, dry pin notes and bit fruity. Citrus and pin taste, but the alcohol overwhelmed it, sweet and sour bitterness. More like Snap, Crackle, Buzz!

Bottle from the LCBO. Cloudy pale pulpy orange with a nice creamy off white head that fades to a thin film. Combination of mango, orange and papaya, fair amount of malt presence, some buckwheat honey. Moderate body and high carbonation, slightly bitter at first then grows to a nicely balanced citrus bitterness with a semi-sweet backbone. Very smooth on the palate compared to the nose.

650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours an extremely murky orange with good-sized white-ish head. Aroma is sweet fruit, bread and mellower citric hops. Flavour is candy sugar, bready grains, light skinned fruit and some interesting citrusy hops. Plus body. Good.

The beer pours a hazed golden orange with a thick creamy light tan coloured cap. The aroma is pine, grains, citrus, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is butterscotch and citrus, with hints of grains. Decent.

Hazy orange with a small bubbly white lasting, nonlacy head. Smells of rye, honey, peach and tropical fruits. Pine? Medium crispy body. Smooth. Tastes of citrus, peach, pine, and a dab of honey. Sweet caramel lingers throughout. Alcohol harshness is present.

Pours a murky, muddy amber. Large white head. Aromas are leaning toward citrus, with some pineapple, and maybe a hint of banana. Taste wise this is definitely grapefruit, more bitter than sweet. A smidgen of pepperiness on the swallow. Overall, I was expecting more of a hop bomb, and perhaps it has mellowed with time, but still an extremely drinkable beer.

Bottle from the LCBO. Very cloudy medium orange with a small tight off white head that lingers and leaves some lace. Nose has lots of bread and candied fruit with a good dose of citrus and pine. Nice and bitter from start to finish but also an even bigger presence of sweet caramel malt which takes the edge off (maybe too much) and neither can hide the level of alcohol. Some pepper is lurking in the background throughout. Mouth is medium and creamy with smooth carbonation.

Murky orange pour, with a large off white almost beige head. First whiff is very sweet, and bready with alot of pine and citrus zest. Well... The sweetness faded as I let it warm. The hops are there, but you can tell the beer is old. The hops have gotten a little musty and earthy. The malts are spicy, with a little Belgian ale type fruity sweetness in the end. The alcohol is a little warming as it lets you know it’s there. Pretty good ..

probstblueribbon (3062) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 11, 2014
Bomber from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Hazy deep amber or orange/copper with a full orange-light tan head. Aroma: Quite sweet and malty, toasted notes, caramel and toffee, grapefruit peel, a bit of pine/resin and peppercorn, a little floral character. Palate: Medium+ body, smooth carbonation. Flav.: Very malty, lots of caramel/toffee, some melanoidin, with an underlying hop presence that is peppery, grapefruit and resinous, malts dominate; sweet with pretty good bitterness and a sweet, malty, peppery finish.

I had expected something more dry, crisp, hop-forward and refreshing. I am glad that I didn’t buy a second bottle, unfortunately.

Pours a cloudy orange with about an inch of head. Alcohol comes through only slightly. Hoppy on the tongue with a citrus aftertaste, but less body than I would usually expect. Feels a bit more like a thinnish barley wine than an IPA, despite the rice undertone.
