Pour this medium-bodied Imperial IPA for a bit of snap and crackle - and plenty of hop. Brewed with Motueka hops from New Zealand, it starts dry and finishes crisp.

This Imperial Rice IPA has it going on in all the right places. A mildly ricey taste, moderately hoppy with New Zealnd hops (IBU 70), and 9.3% alc/vol (although no alcohol could be detected during the consumption of this brew).

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Pale lemony yellow, very hazy, pillowy white head that retains beautifully. Aroma is pungent green hops, slightly earthy, a little cat-pissy. Light crackery malts showcase the lovely hop bouquet, a mixture of grassy green and ripe gooseberry, some starfruit, a little dank pot. Very drinkable, aromatic hop showcase here! So much better than I expected-- seriously, whoíd of thought a "rice IPA" with a cartoony label could possibly be so good! Wow, nice one P-49!

Pours a cloudy dull orange with a thin head and some lace. Intense fruity aroma - apricot, spicy hops, a bit boozy. Huge motueka taste, thin and boozy otherwise. Strong, bitter, spicy hop finish. Thin, crisp body, good carb. Really unbalanced by really bold, and so Iím not sure I care about the balance. Yum!

(650ml bottle) Purchased at the brewery for $6.50. Pours a lasting foamy white head atop a partially cloudy orange body. Nose of highly floral New Zealand hops. Good bitterness, orange rind, high citrus. Very decent for a double IPA.

On tap at Darby's. Cloudy orange. Aroma of fruit and resinous hops. Stuffy. Taste is super hoppy and fruity. Sticky citrus rind. Really "odd" presence but seems to even out eventually.

650mL bottle, pours an opaque cloudy orange with a medium white head. Aroma is super dank, with loads of pot, earthy hops, and biscuity malt. Flavour is quite odd, with loads of super dank, earthy hops, pot, and herbal notes. The rice probably contributes to some of the weirdness. Itís the dank, herbally, almost skunky notes of the hops that shine here. Very enjoyable stuff - too bad itís a one-off.

Bomber. Pours translucent dark gold with white head. Nose is tropical fruit, earth, Iíve heard moteuka described as spearmint not sure what hops theyíre smoking. Flavour is about the oily hop resins with citrus and tropical fruit, no idea what the rice does here, had it in a bunch of lagers and can say it adds to the crispness and dryness but this was neither. Didnít know how much Iíd enjoy this, was pleasantly surprised.

Wonderful. Heavy grapefruit hops aroma on head here. Easily best among the parallel 49 beers that made it over to Ontario this weekend. Pours cloudy orange suggest head and lacing. Great integration of hops and malt. Bitter finish, booze well concealed. Nice. Tap at volos.
