Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy amber color with no head. The aroma is lightly fruity. Good body strength, a bit of malt flavor, sweet beer, with enough balancing bitterness, fruity, but not much character.
A typical example of American attempt at strong Belgian ales, I would say.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Murky orange-ish brown with no head. Aroma light toffee, some alcohol, slightly metallic, hint of caramel and vanilla. Taste of belgian yeast, some caramel malt and mild alcohol. Light body, lacks finish.

Hmm...bottle to small wine glass and well....the head just disappears. Color is a cloudy orange.

Aroma is booze, booze, booze. Not a lot of esters, faint cherry, banana, medicinal notes. Slight band-aid. For the strength it’s too subdued, for the style.......hmmmm....

Taste...what the fuck am I drinking. Sweet alcohol water I guess, with a scrumptious banana and band-aid finish. Lots of vegetal tastes too like broccoli and spinach...and this is odd, but, ketchup. There’s also a really off putting strong metallic taste. Yum.

Palate...watery, super boozy rocket fuel and CO2 way too low for the style. Boys, this is not a porter, it is a Belgian Strong ale. WHERE IS THE FUCKING FIZZ?

Overall I’m extremely disappointed especially considering that these guys usually make some pretty solid and really enjoyable beers. Nothing close to a Belgian Stong ale and I hope they improve this. First drain pour.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown color with a thin head. Poor retention. Aroma of toffee, banana, herbal hops. The taste is the same. Thin-medium bodied, fairly boozy.

650ml brown bottle. Medium brown colour, general haze and some yeast floaties near the ned of the bottle. Thin beige cap on top and no lacing.Nose has caramel, bit of chocolate and fruity alcohol notes. Taste has chocolate malts, caramel notes, brown sugar, trace of hops. Bit of dark fruit, chocolate and toffee at the end, slight yeast note. Mellow alcohol note for an almost 10% brew. Pretty good and worth checking out.

Bottle - Bubblegum, cherry, raisin and dark sugar. Clear amber with a thin brown head. Dark sugars, cherry, marzipan and raisin. Nice and typical, but for a local I have to give props.
