Traditionally, the strength and beauty of the Czech brewing industry lay in the wide variety and uniqueness of its product range. Budweiser Budvar, N.C. decided to go against this trend and enrich the Czech beer culture with a beer of a new, original flavour particularly suitable for the typical Czech beer consumers. Therefore the brewery invited the real consumers, i.e. those who are fond of beer and have experience in its consumption, to take part in developing it. For several months, the aroma, colour and flavour were being tuned in the brewery. Combining traditional brewing skills with the experience of Budweiser Budvar’s brewers and challenging ideas of many beer connoisseurs resulted in the creating of the present Czech beer idol – “Pardál” beer, the perfect beer for sharp and full bitter flavoured beer lovers. The true beer for groups of friends who can label it : “It’s one of us!”

500ml bottle from supermarket near Brno. Clear gold colour, small mostly vanishing white head, little lacing. Moderately hoppy aroma of grass with light grains and white bread. Taste is initially mildly sweet with a hint of sourness, turning into a moderately bittersweet finish. Light to medium body, average carbonation, dryinsh mouthfeel. Fairly drinkable light lager, not exactly amazing but a really good lawnmower beer.

Keg @ Cask, Manchester. Golden with a small head. Has a small but decent lager malt nose but doesn’t transfer well into any taste.

Diminishing off white head, clear gold golden body. Aroma; mild caramel malts, mild nuts, flowerbed. Taste; grass, mild very light hops, light malts, almond, nuts, mild grains. Some small dry parts to palate, fresh, easy. Finishes with notes of bread, bread’ish caramel malts, almond peel - an easy and light pilsener. [50cl green btl 3.8%abv 9.7° BB28.10.14]

Alengrin (4594) - BELGIUM - AUG 26, 2014
Relatively new lager from this renowned Bohemian brewery, made by and for their loyal customers. Snow white, stable, fluffy head, golden blonde colour with very light haze. Grainy aroma, corn, minerals, grass, young cheese. Subdued sweetness, grainy, a tad caramelly, bit metallic too, grassy hoppy finish. Nothing compared with the famous Budweiser Budvar but still, a bit different from the standard and therefore interesting.
