I used to think this had too much of an alcohol taste, but 'not' true... it has the classic Czech 'nutty' lager taste, with malt in spades, hops maybe as an afterthought... medium amber color, and an aroma that reminds me of driving by the Anheuser-Busch Fermentation building back in the Eighties, except that this delivers on the promise of all that aroma

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2003 This bottle may have been slightly old, but not mishandled. Pours dark yellow with a thin white head. Rich grassy and malty aroma. Clean, not fruity. Rich malty flavor, and no hop. Lingering malt flavor. Very nice, like a German Mai-Bock, or Urbock-23.

At 8% alc/vol this brew packs a wallop just like the semtex plastic explosive made in the same town.Goes down smooth.Taste changes as this beer warms, pull out a cold one and sip on it over 2 hours. I swore i was drinking 6 different beers.Great price.Highly recommended. My bottlle said porter 8% on the cap.

Rich malty concoction which I think buries the high (8%) alcohol content. Terribly smooth and alluring with a thick white head and fine lacing. Actually quite nice, really.

Darker gold, with a small foam collar but it leaves decent lace. Interesting variation on malty aroma, with some grapey and meaty aspects folded in, leading into a fairly full bodied mouthfeel with a rough hewn, one might even say rustic malt flavor, but smooth and clean, just some earthy, smokey things lurking around the edges. Fairly deluxe, too bad about the simple bottle and limited availability of this though...

Flavors grows in your mouth with every sip. Gets stronger and stronger. Gold in color. Very pleasant do drink. Not a session beer though. High in alcohol. Fruity aroma. Has a thin palate.

Had this beer on 9/9/2002. Aroma is a mild malt scent and is a lighter scent than the regular Boom. Color is a nice gold with good carbonation and a thin head. Taste is mild and sweet. Starting with a light medium body it goes down with a crisp refreshing feel. Finish is a light malt flavor with a strange sweetness that you can taste the alcohol in. The lable states that this is a Malt Liquor. It fits the category of a Malt Liquor and as such its the best one I’ve had. I am not a big fan of Malt Liquors, because most of they suck, but this is a very drinkable beer. I would like to note that it does feel lighter and more refreshing than the regular Boom but is a bit sweeter.

Went "BOOM" as soon as I popped the cap off. Thus, I had a little volcanic science fair project on my kitchen counter. Light copper color is deceiving, as the beer carries quite a bit of weight. Super-smooth and silky on the palate. Sweetish, lasting malt flavors with notes of apple and pear. Finishes somewhat dry and rather clean. Surprisingly tasty and well-made. Have to say, I was rather impressed.

Light copper color. Medium pillowy head vanishes in minutes. Aroma of sweet malt and fruit. Malty, yet well balanced. Alcohol 8%, you would never guess. Clean crisp finish.

Extra Boom. Sounds like a poor translation or something. Big American Party. Anyway, onto the beer. I froze this accidentally and when I drank it, it still had frozen spots. Tastes surprisingly good, at first. Might be better at this temperature tho, since others are saying it gets bad as it warms. Reminded me of Aventinus, something I wasn't expecting at all. It was good in my opinion. Cheap too. Those Czech know how to pack a punch.
