deep murky golden brown with an enduring head, the aroma is malty roasted spicey citrus, similar flavours combine really well, finishing with an ideal tasty bitter hoppyness

Aroma of roasted malts, copper-red creamy large head which settled and lasted, hoppy and malty flavous of caramel and grass with a mild bitter aftertaste, medium body smooth easy drinking ale, very good.

330mL bottle BB 16/02/14
Reddish amber body, slight haze, big off-white foam.
Good nose to it; biscuity, toffee, nutty malts with unripe tropical fruits, melons, resiny leaves and pepper hop character.
Full body, moderate carbonation, slightly oily texture.
Delivers a solid dose of nutty, biscuity malt paired well with plenty of spicy, leafy green fruit hops. Firm bitterness on dry finish.
Nice NZ style Amber

It really tastes more like an IPA to me, maybe let it warm in your hand for a while to let the malt flavours come through.

Pours dark red with some beige, fine head. Nose is grapefruit peel, pineapple, grass, slight toffee. Flavor is quite hop forward. Lots of grapefruit peel, pine resin, bit of passionfruit, toffee, bread. Finish is lots of bitter grapefruit, slight sweetness. Carbonation is a touch on the low side, but I think it works well with the medium to heavy body. Not bad.

Bottle from Zesty Edibles. Poured a nice creamy head and a deep red almost dark amber colour. Quite malty but not overwhelming with tastes of roast coffee and a nice bitter finish on the palate. Sadly I didnít find this overly hoppy, but still nice all the same. Enjoyed. Good beer.

Very nice beer , would have like more of a caramel note like most other red ales on the market, still a very good ale

The aroma starts out with a rather basic caramel and red apple maltiness before developing light touches of fennel and black pepper, and itís not long before the simple cara malt character blossoms into something more like seed bread toasted baguette... luscious carbonation and soft malt texture again are the highlight, something that ParrotDog seems to do well even in beers with unappealing flavor profiles. Semi-sweet, toasty, bready, strongly bitter with medium acidity, good malt attenuation, just enough sugar left over to provide some heft to the body without being overly sweet and chewy... carbonation and sweetness and acid all well matched, and itís quite aromatic as well. On first pass itís a basic amber ale but with time it comes together well. Talented brewing taking place in Wellington.
