Editor’s note: It can be hard to detect which Grisette you’ve had as the label doesn’t indicate if it’s spiced or citrusy. This edition has an addition of ginger, pepper and an undisclosed spice, and less wheat than the regular edition. The label artwork is pinkish/lilac.

Leighton (18711) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 28, 2013
Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours perfectly clear, yellow-gold, highly effervescent, with a large, pure white foam head. Lightly doughy and biscuity pale malts in the nose, hints of yeast, lemon, hints of sting suggestive of ginger. Light sweet flavor with further restrained, biscuity-doughy pale malts, touches of citrusy fruits here and there, background ginger. Light bodied with lively, mouth-filling carbonation. Clean finish with very light sweetness, mellow straw bitterness, less doughy malts now, further hints of ginger in the background. A very delicate but impressively nuanced beer. Great summer bevvie.

I have consumed more than my fair share of this....Bottles from Partizan. It pours pale yellow with a large white head. The nose is earth, straw, dough, spice and light citrus peel notes. The taste is smooth, straw, dough, crisp bitterness, ginger, pepper, light zesty citrus and faint underlying sweetness with a dry finish. Light-medium body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Utterly drinkable. Brilliant stuff.

22/06/2013 330ml bottle shared by Theydon_Bois (thanks Colin!)

Bottle from Brixton Market. Pours very very pale amber, big fluffy white head. Nose is fragrant, aromatic light Brett yeast, grain husk, sugary meringue, lemon. Taste is light, lemony, fragrant yeast character, sweet, with some grassy straw and light bitterness. Lovely summer saison. Glad I bought two bottles of this by accident!

330 ml bottle.
Pours a clear pale yellow colour with a large foamy head. Aroma of floral hops, strong ginger and some herbal notes. Flavour of floral hops, ginger, herbs, tart citrus, hay, biscuit and grapefruit. Light bodied, high carbonation and a crisp, citrusy finish with some ginger burn. What a great refreshing light saison.

33cl bottle from the brewery. It pours a slightly hazy golden colour with 1 finger of white soapy head. Aroma is fresh and hoppy, quite zesty with notes of black pepper and spices. Taste is similarly light bitter with some floral hops and grass, some yeasts and bread, little in the way of funk. Overall, extremely tasty and refreshing.
