Bottle from the brewery. Almost black with a slight, off-white head. Big chocolate and charred malt aroma. Slightly prickly mouth feel, with some oiliness, before more chocolate, roasted malts and a hoppy, dryish finish. Excellent..

33 cl bottle. Bottled on 28.05.2013. BBE 28.05.2014.
Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Aroma is quite dry with roasted malts, chocolate and cocoa. Some dry dark fruits and caramel appear also. Quite dry cocoa-dominant flavor as well, dry dark chocolate, toasted dark malts and some ashy notes. Faint caramel and vanilla notes. Dry malty and a bit burnt palate with a short dry finish. Nice and refined dessert stout.

Bottle picked up at Partizan. It pours very dark brown with a medium light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, toast, dark chocolate, dark fruit and coffee. The taste is roasty, chocolate, burnt caramel, earth, touch of alcohol, decent bitterness, light ash, tangy dark fruit, berry and some coffee with a dry roasted finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Big in the flavour department, yet smooth and very drinkable. Great stuff.

Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is smooth and slightly soft. Semi dry with fine carbonation. Rich dark malt, medium roast bitterness. A little balancing malt cream. Good espresso coffee. Trace of cereal. Mellow hops provide a little bitterness and a touch of citrus. Semi dry finish with a roast and coffee bitter linger. Good stout but definitely in the shadow of it’s big brother.

Bottle at home, thanks to Leighton for picking this up for me, 20/07/13. Mid black with a good sized tan head that dissipates but stays for the party as an overall covering. Nose is roast malts, chocolate biscuits, dark fruit tang, light perfume, hoppy backnotes. Taste comprises bitter roast malts, chocolate pud, dairy milk, dark fruits, good hop presence, light mineral bite, earthy, ashen. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, roasty hoppy finish. Nice stuff!

330 ml bottle.
Pours a pitch black colour with an off-white creamy head. Aroma of strong roasted malts, chocolate biscuit, grass and licorice. Flavour is very rich with strong roasted malts, mildly burnt bread, biscuit, mudcake, licorice, big grassy and earthy bitterness and hay. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a rich, malty, bitter, mudcake finish. Pretty much as good as their FES. Great stuff once again. Cheers, Partizan.

33cl bottle from the brewery. Black beer with a lasting dark beige head. Intense dark choc and coffee aroma, more dark choc. Like 85% cocoa dark Belgian choc. Quite dry. Good tasty stout, hides alcohol well. It’s a good beer. So drinkable for not my favourite style.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours deep brown with a sturdy, tight mocha cream head. The nose holds a lot of roasty char, some dark fruits, tarmac, baking cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with a lot of punchy roasted malts, bitter char and baking cocoa, some alcohol boost, a bit of oily chocolate, some burnt pine bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation and a slippery mouthfeel. Warming on the finish with plenty more well roasted malts, earth, charcoal and ash, oily chocolate, burnt grass, some raisins. Pretty assertive stuff.

Bottle @ home. Picked up from the brewery. The pour’s back with a gorgeously luxurious tight tan head. Great head retention too. Attractive beer. The nose is very big, expressive. Notes of dark roast coffee emanate from the bottle as soon as I crack the cap. Ashy earth, dark roast. Light vinous berry. The taste is initially dominated by more vinous tangy fruits. Huge hoppy bitterness then crowds out some of the more delicate fruit flavors. More chocolate, scorched earth on the finish. Full body, oily. This beer drinks a lot bigger than it actually is. Overall, a really nice beer. The bitterness sort of overrides the palate, but it’s undeniably tasty and full of character. At the moment, it seems like Partizan are really known for their pale hoppy stuff, but their dark beers are definitely not something people should be sleeping on.
