Draught at The brewery. Dark, almost black, viscous looking, tan head doesn’t last. Huge coffee and dark chocolate nose. Flavour follows. Very fizzy, as per export style. Heavy body. Long bitter coffee finish

330ml bottle from Good Spirits Co. Almost black, massive beige foamy head. Toasted milky whiskey coffee aroma. Roasted whiskey flavour. Sweet whiskey alcohol aftertaste. I much prefer the non barrel aged version. This is not really my sort of beer.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This inky black beer has an oily mouthfeel and very rich liquorice, red fruit and coffee flavours followed by slight vanilla and a hint of whisky and oak on the finish. Superb!

330 ml bottle @ Cardinal. Black body with a stable, big, dense off-white head. Perfect stout look, even after barrel aging. Really nice aroma of dark malt, pleasant oak, balanced roast, coffee and vanilla. Flavor is just similar to what to expect from the aroma in a very balanced way, with balanced bitterness. Full body and long, good aftertaste. I really like this one.

> A higher carbonated, expressive coffee stout

[ Bottle ][ Leighton ][ 330mL ][ Reidel Stemless ][ Free ][ 1/25/14 ]
>> Pours ink with big mocha foam. Great retention. Nose is intense coffee, expressive. Taste is aerated, sharp and powerful coffee. Easy palate isn’t thin or too bubbly. A very interesting coffee stout that works really well- lots of skill in this beer that could be hard to appreciate. Barrel character eludes me.

33cl bottle from the brewery. It pours a deep dark brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa powder, coffee beans. Taste is quite sweet with caramel, molasses, more cocoa and roasted malts. Lighter red fruits notes and wood. Silky mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Very good stout, could use more barrel character.

0.33 l bottle. Near black body. Dense small-sized latte head. Well roasted malts in the aroma, with tones of burnt caramel, licorice, tar, wood and dark chocolate. Near full body. Smooth in the mouth. Heavily roasted malt flavor. Much the same as the un-barreled version, with a little more sweetness. Firm bitterness underneath. Wooden roasty bitter finish.
