Bottle from a trade with madmitch76. Pours almost black with a big creamy tanned head. Aroma of hard roasted malts and chocolate, cocoa, Taste is powerful and rich roasted dark malts, lots of dark bitter chocolate, dry and roasty lingering end. Very good stout in my book, well hidden alcohol.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines. Superbly sweet and smooth. Does have power, but it’s oh so sneaky. Didn’t notice it was so strong. It’s oh so accomplished, oh so beige-headed and oh so sick of saying "oh so". It’s a challenging role.

Bottle from Craft Brixton. Pours opaque black, brown at edges and with a lovely big tan bubbly chocolatey looking head. Nose is milk chocolate, dark chocolate syrup, roasted malt grain, Marmite (yeast extract), earthy, engine oil, ever so slight dark fruit. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, bit of coffee, cocoa powder. On the finish there’s a tangy salty Marmite taste with roasted grain. Nice big, fairly full bodied and oily, complex stout.

Bottle from the brewery. Now I don’t know what it is with stouts, I either love them or they leave me a bit cold. Certainly not my style of choice. But I like this brewer and brewery so here goes. Black beer with lasting beige head. Roasted malt and choc aroma. With some coffee too. Good mouthfeel, good fullness in mouth, good blend of the above flavours. The mocha flavour works really well. I like me some good coffee and the finish is just a fantastic coffee flavour. Wow, I didn’t really realise it was that strong in ABV. Wow. Well it’s good. Especially the aftertaste which is really good as is the alcohol buzz with no heat and no burn at all. Silky. Yes, one of the stouts I do like. Andy you are a bit of brewing genius. Good beer.

DruncanVeasey (7315) - NUNEATON, CONF N, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2013
330ml bottle. Glossy tar pour with a firm, fine-moussed tan head. Aroma of coffee, blueberry, bitter chocolate, vanilla pod, orange/kumquat liqueur hints. Big and burnt with pungent black coffee, chocolate, incinerated bitterness lightened with nutty and (burnt) digestive malt. Sticks around with smoke and back-of-tongue tonic bitterness long after the swallow. Overly bitter, a little imbalanced maybe. But good.

Bottle at Partizan brewery, Bermondsey, London. A black coloured pour with a healthy beige/tan head on top. Roasty, malty, coffee aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, a little coffee, slightly bitter. Rich and complex. Very good stout from Partizan.
