4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Cotteridge Wines. Superbly sweet and smooth. Does have power, but itís oh so sneaky. Didnít notice it was so strong. Itís oh so accomplished, oh so beige-headed and oh so sick of saying "oh so". Itís a challenging role.

Bottle from Craft Brixton. Pours opaque black, brown at edges and with a lovely big tan bubbly chocolatey looking head. Nose is milk chocolate, dark chocolate syrup, roasted malt grain, Marmite (yeast extract), earthy, engine oil, ever so slight dark fruit. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, bit of coffee, cocoa powder. On the finish thereís a tangy salty Marmite taste with roasted grain. Nice big, fairly full bodied and oily, complex stout.

Bottle from the brewery. Now I donít know what it is with stouts, I either love them or they leave me a bit cold. Certainly not my style of choice. But I like this brewer and brewery so here goes. Black beer with lasting beige head. Roasted malt and choc aroma. With some coffee too. Good mouthfeel, good fullness in mouth, good blend of the above flavours. The mocha flavour works really well. I like me some good coffee and the finish is just a fantastic coffee flavour. Wow, I didnít really realise it was that strong in ABV. Wow. Well itís good. Especially the aftertaste which is really good as is the alcohol buzz with no heat and no burn at all. Silky. Yes, one of the stouts I do like. Andy you are a bit of brewing genius. Good beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle. Glossy tar pour with a firm, fine-moussed tan head. Aroma of coffee, blueberry, bitter chocolate, vanilla pod, orange/kumquat liqueur hints. Big and burnt with pungent black coffee, chocolate, incinerated bitterness lightened with nutty and (burnt) digestive malt. Sticks around with smoke and back-of-tongue tonic bitterness long after the swallow. Overly bitter, a little imbalanced maybe. But good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle @ CPK. The pourís a deep brown color with a massive tan head. Oily, thick appearance. Attractive beer. The nose is rich roasted malts, ash, scorched earth. This is basically Shermanís March to the Sea in liquid form. Hints of chocolate cake to keep it real. The taste is nice bitter dark chocolate. Roasted malt bitterness. Nice earthy hop bite. Slight spruce. Nice, syrupy dessert chocolate finish. The bodyís full, the carbonationís soft and active. Overall, a great beer. Really well executed. Pretty flawless.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at De Molen tasting. Pours black with a nice light brown head leaving nice lacing. Nice aroma of roasted malts, coffee and some chocolate. Taste is also roasted malts, coffee, some bitterness and finishes dry. Texture is not as creamy as you would hope with a beer like this. Very nice brew nonetheless.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a black beer with a small tanned head on top. Aroma has loads of coffee, some more coffee, roasted malts and light touches of licorice. Flavour returns most of the coffee flavours alongside some of the licorice dryness. Quite a sweet stout, with a long lasting afterstaste. Nice brew!
