330ml bottle. Pours thick, deep black and looks like a stout should do. Strong cocoa and dark chocolate aroma, which comes through well, there’s also treacle and brown sugar deep in the mix, dark fruit and the expected rich roast. It drinks so smoothly, hides the strength so well and reminds me why I love stouts when they’re like this.

Bottled, 330ml from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Black with tan head. What a wonderful aroma on opening, rich dark chocolate and roasty malts. Sleek pour, quite big on the palate with coffee husk and liquorice, very darkly roasted malt. A bobby dazzler.

Beese (1667) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2014
Bottle at Cask, London on 13 April 2013. Poured a thick, pitch black colour with a large, dense tan head. Huge, rich aroma of roasted malt, bitter dark chocolate and some liquorice. Wonderful, full creamy mouth feel. Full bodied flavours of bitter coffee, dense fruit cake and dark fruit. Finish was wonderful espresso bitterness mixed with bitter burnt malt, balanced perfectly with black syrup. Wonderful beer.

Poured dark viscous brown with a frothy dark tan head. Aroma of roast coffee grinds and dark chocolate. Medium body, flavour of roast malt, bitter coffee with a dry, bitter aftertaste.

330 ml bottle from Ales By Mail, served in a snifter. Bottled on 25-04-2013. Like pouring motor oil, thick, very dark, looks pitch black in the glass with absolutely no light passing through. Wonderfull dark brown fluffy head, good lacing. Not the most powerful and "in your face" aroma, but very complex and subtle, with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, a huge amount of roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate, plus a hint of dark fruits (think berries). Perfectly balanced in the mouth, with a slight coffee and roasty bitterness that counteract a chocolaty, almost milky sweetness. A light ashy/smoky sensation on the tongue as well. The body is velvety full, with a oily texture that coats the lips, and a soft and gentle carbonation. No trace of the alchool at all, ridiculously well hidden. A damn well crafted foreign stout, nothing more to add!

A Mes rate. Bottle kindly given to me by Andy at my birthday bash. For those who don’t know, Partizan is the next big thing. As a first couple of brews, this and the Sauvin IPA set an extremely high benchmark. This is an exceptional stout. It looks gorgeous for a start. Black as a vicar’s sock (thanks Haddonsman) with a glorious tan foamy bonce. It looks like it means business... And it needs me to help by drinking it. Proper chocolate and coffee dessert on the snout with just a lick of naughty boozy character. Stunning, ballsy malt and big coffee in the mouth with a dark underlying chocolate base. Loads of depth to the blackness. But it’s not all malt. There’s a good lick of hops in here. It balances out just about spot on to me. The finish is good coffee bitterness and a lingering hint of alcohol that reminds you that however smooth and drinkable this is, it’s not fucking around. A couple of these down me and I’d be convinced it’s a good idea to get completely smashed. Nice one Andy. Oh, the mouthfeel is pretty much perfect too. Silky smooth and effortless to drink. Awesome. And dangerous. Love it.

This is quite brilliant.2 beers of very high quality from Partizan. Superb balance, not overpowering alcohol, sweet and bitter with gently strong choc and coffee flowing through. Quality.

33cl bottle from the brewery. It pours a dark brown almost black colour with a thin beige head. Some alcohol lacing on the side of the glass. A ring of foam lasts long on the sides. Aroma is is intense and very much coffee forward. Then also roasted malts and bitter woody notes come through. Taste is much similar with a tad of initial sweetness which turns in a bit of tartness to then close with a long longering biterness. Lots of rosted coffee notes with cocoa as well. Light alcohol hints. Mouthfeel is quite good qith nice carbonation. Overall, definitely a winner and quite impressive.
