Beer brewed in memory of THE BATTLE OF PASSCHENDAELE 1917. A top fermented, thirst quenching blond with low alcohol content. A blend of Belgian Hops with a spicy aftertaste.

Another beer celebrating the commemorations around World War I. Comes in a 50 cl bottle - aimed at British consumers, that much is clear. Thin off-white head, breaking after a short while; colour a deep orangey ’old gold’ with steady sparkles, staying clear all the time and therefore clearly filtered and pasteurized. Aroma of stale cookies, sour berries, green apple, starfruit, lemon zest, white candi sugar, toasted bread, caramel, something sweaty and grainy, something phenolic (burning plastic), the unmistakable pasteurization smell and fried eggs. Sweetish onset of restrained, appley and orangey fruitiness and residual sugariness, a bit honeyish, medium carbonation, sourish accent, biscuity and caramelly malts, sweetish and toasted at the same time, finish of grassy hops with low bitterness, yeasty spiciness and badly hidden, gin-like alcohol with somewhat bittering effect, solvents as well, though the last thing remaining is (fortunately) lingering, biscuity and caramelly malt sweetness. The bottle fascinated me more than the beer - if they want to honour the British liberators of Belgium a hundred years ago, why not attempt to make a decent English bitter or any other Anglo-Saxon ale style? Some British beer styles became popular in Belgium after the war anyway... Or was this intended as a bitter or a golden ale after all?

Carbonnation assez faible. Désaltérante. Trouvée à Roby - Menin.

Bottle, 0,5 ltr. Minimal head, quickly diminished. Very blonde color, looks like a weak pilsner. Very weak but fresh aroma, mild taste with a bitter hint. No aftertaste. The story of this beer is awesome but the product, not so much...

clear blond color, minimal head. Aroma of wet grass. Taste is sweeter than bitter with an abrupt finish. Thin and light body, soft carbonation, An acceptable pils but definitely not a belgian ale.

the aroma is malty and fruity with some shades of yeast... the taste is malty with slight hoppy bitterness and notes of cereals and, a little bit, tropical fruits... dry and spicy aftertaste...

In bottle (Brugges); pours a nice golden color. Aroma somewhat grassy; taste has some lemon/citrusy notes. Overall, an OK Belgium blond
