On tap at Christian Firtal. Clear golden with a small white head. Malty and floral aroma with lots of phenolic spice. Sweetish malty flavour with a faint yeasty note. Average, but not bad

maekchu (3323) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAY 3, 2012
330ml. bottle from the local Yamaya liquor store. Dry grassy aroma, yeast, and some old wax. Dusky straw color, substantial head, and fat bubble lacing. Flavors of wax (maybe shoe polish?), yeast (Brett-like), and grass in mid palate. Little aftertaste. Thin body. Very drinkable. But doesn’t really make so much of an impression.

Currently drinking as I am typing. Aroma of sharp citrus and alcohol also smells sweet on the nose. Nice golden slightly hazy colour but topped with a head that lacks substance, short lived bubbly white head that consists of big soapy looking bubbles. The taste is almost similar to the Pater Lieven Wit, a bit too sweet for a blond beer also flavours of yeast, Danish breads and a tiny hop flavour that goes quick in the aftertaste. The feeling is lacking in a solid mouth feel, it leaves the throat slightly dry and also has no top lip sensation from lack of a full head. Ok beer I guess, not as nice as the Wit personally but is fairly drinkable. Not a must have I’m afraid.
