Een heel lekker donker bier met een goede, volle smaak aan zoals het hoort bij een donker bier

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a dark brown color and a beige head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is mixture of tones from dark chocolate with nuts, cacao, oatmeal and a light sweetness from the raisins. The taste starts with a medium bitterness from the cacao and chocolate and changes in a light sweetness which reminds me licorice. The finish is a little sweet and has a light bitterness from the cacao. Despite this beer is a little watery, it’s actually a good Abbey Dubbel which is well drinkable and not too strong.

Chestnut with a great creamy top. Toffee with caramelised nuts, sweet but not overly sweet. Medium body with a sweet but not sticky finish. Decent brown.

330ml bottle form (I think) Beers of Europe. Pours clear brown, thin off-white head. Light banana at first on the aroma, some spice and dark sugar. Tatse has more fruit, spice, yeast, candi sugar. Medium body, decent balance. Yeah, liked that one!

33cl bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - chestnut with an amber tinge. Good head. Nose - honey and general candy sugar sweetness. Taste - slightly grapey or appley but apart from that, there’s toffee and not much else. Palate - medium bodied with a sweet sugar texture in the middle and there’s a decently balanced finish. Overall - nice but slightly one-dimensional even if that dimension is good.

McWorta (573) - LUXEMBOURG - JUL 4, 2014
Dark brown to brown with deep amber ruby red reflexions. Offers a tan head lasting until it fades in a smooth coverage. Noses of nuts, cocoa powder, chocolate and hints of raisin and dried dark fruits. At first the beer develops a prickling bit lively texture which lasts and develops a light-medium body. Sweet notes are intermingled wit nutty cocoa powder flavours offering some bitterness and dryness. The finish is light and lasts a while still providing cocoa flavours. Well balanced.

Bottle at Bruxx. Sunday afternoon after the Zizkov game. Pours Brown with a Red hue and a cream coloured head. Sweet malty aroma with Belgian promise. Tastes a wee bit too sweet for my liking. Caramel and spice but just bit too much.

erickok (3499) - Tours (and Paris), FRANCE - MAR 8, 2014
Brown bodied, small light tan head. Brown bread, cane sugar, chocolate, dark malts and sweet alcohol. I dig the darker tones, but somehow it doesn’t help get this beer below par. Bit of a simple body, sugary, brown simple malts. Okay mouthfeel, bit too watery and sweet. It is okat overall, not much to it, unless you like brown sugar water. (33cl bottle from Cave Gabrinus SPdC)

Bottle @ home. Brown clear pour with a large beige frothy head. Sweet fruity aroma of raisins, ripe plums, intense toffee and some maltiness, dark bread and yeast. Dry somewhat sour taste initially with a nice fruitiness building up. Toffee, citrus, raisins, plums and bread, some butterscotch and butter. Finishes dry with a mild metallic clove character, nuttiness, light spicy bitterness combined with tart alcohols shining though. Thin to medium body, low carbonation.
