BB 250406. Dark brown with a slim off-white head. Fruity aroma, with a touch of sourness. Moderately carbonated, medium bodied. Taste is sweet malty, with a sweet/sour finish. Decent beer.
Seems a bit young to me, but still pretty good.

11.2 oz bottle, best before end 2003: Pours a murky Mississippi mud colour with a medium bubbled froth that turns creamy as it settles. Soothing, sugary aroma – cane sugar, brown sugar and rock sugar candy soaked together in alcohol. The depth of the malt begins in the aroma as well with luscious raisins, plums and other dark, sweet fruits. Palate is so-so on this one -> slightly grainy, but with decent carbonation. Chocolate malt flavours with alcohol laced red grapes and chewy malts. Well developed and expansive profile of toffish and sweeter flavours dominate the finish and a light hop bitterness rounds out a very nice beer…

Mahogany body under a creamy beige head. Intense aroma of sweet malt, anise, coffee. Almost like my espresso with a shot of sambucca. Slick feel in the mouth. Syrupy. The taste is of a flavored coffee. No go for me.

Bottle bought in Belgium. Pours dark murky brown, with a slight off white head. Aroma is malt & alcohol.. Tastes of rich, dark chocolate & coffee, it’s slightly sweet, malty and alcoholic, with prickling carbonation. Notes of dried fruits and spice.

Sugar, molasses nose that is very sweet. Dark clear bown color with a spongy head. Very sweet malt with some fig and raisin. Thin and quick for the most part, though there is a pleasant lingering sweetness. Too one dimensional to give this a higher rating, but still a good brew.

Bottle: Pour to a medium brown hue with an initial fizzy but disappearing head and minimal lace. The arom has some phenols, caramel, walnut, sour apple, plum, spicy hops, and earthy yeast esters. The taste starts nutty and sweet before giving way to a minor acidic bite. Some undertone of bitters and yeasty notes come though later. The feel starts biting and crisp, a bit dry and metallic towards the end. A solid Belgium brown, quaffable indeed, but is no Corsendonk Pater.

Whoa!! When I was uncapping this beer, it nearly exploded. Extreme head, billowing from the uncapped bottle. quickly disappears. Pours deep brown. Nose is of sour, malt and brown sugar. Flavors are plummy, nutty and woodsy. Tart. Finishes with acidic bite.

Appearance: a solid brown body, under a mountainous, creamy tan head, slow to settle, and leaving lace.
Aroma: cola, nuts, rum, cream.
Taste: a flood of flavor on first sip, a great wash over the tastebuds, rich, luscious, delicious, and warm. ABV is not given, but feels a touch strong.
Body is full, finish is long-lasting, tasty, nutty.
A fruitiness emerges around the middle and lasts until the end.
One drawback is that it feels a bit...*BURP!*...high on carbonation, perhaps?
Feels a bit like an abbey dubbel, one of my favorite styles, without quite reaching the total flavor and complexity.

Dark brown with hints of red, offwhite frothy medium head. Yeast nose, also toasted malt. Chestnut, fig and brown sugar taste - but very weak.

Nice doughy, espresso, toasted aroma, some molasses and caramel; not much carbonation or lacing on mine, plenty of sedimentation; medium bodied, delicious coffee, malt, toffee, light-porterish-Belgian flavor, slightly sour and acidic; outstanding! This one deserves a higher average rating, for sure.
