3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mike_77 (2014) - NETHERLANDS - SEP 15, 2011
Chocolatey brown colour with thick, lasting lacy head. Aroma has intense dark fruit sweetness and plenty of maltiness. Flavour is similar. Sweetness is quite high but it works well. Strong in-mouth carbonation enlivens the flavours by bashing them all around the palate.

330 ml bottle at Oud Aresnal in Antwerpen. (I hope this is the right beer as I noticed the beer as Paternos, but can’t find any other match and the abv is the same). Slightly hazy amber body with a small, dense tan head. Aroma is mild malty, hint of burnt sugar and spicy. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, slightly burnt brown sugar and moderate bitterness. Body is medium plus. Quite typical dubbel style but pleasant, actually had another bottle even if there was a lot more exciting stuff to try. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a nice beer.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2013 Bottle, at Oud Arsenaal. It is an unclear, golden-brown beer with a creamy, beige head of moderate size. Caramel, roasted notes, and dried fruits. Some hops. It’s sweet in the mouth, yet quite dry, with caramel and a pleasant bitterness. Full body. A quite nice one, tasteful, but not very complex. 110429
