COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A light-bodied, easy drinking beer style from the Northern German town of Cologne. The hops are very low and of noble variety with a light malt to keep the beer refreshing and good for a hot day. A cousin of the pilsner, this is a hybrid style traditionally made by the people of Cologne to enjoy in the middle of the summer, but decidedly delightful year-round.

16 ounce can. Thanks Secret Santa Aaron! Pours a pale gold with a decent white head. Mild aroma of fruit, malt, and floral. Taste is similar. Uncomplicated.

16 oz can is awesome. Product inside isn’t. Pours a nice clear golden with a white head. That’s the nicest thing I have to say about this beer. Quite the flawed beer. Really bad Acetaldehyde aroma and flavor. Also get some DMS out of it. Borderline drain pour. Unless you like green apple creamed corn kolsch brews.

On tap @ Pateros Creek. Pale golden pour with a white head. Lemon zest, tea, and grain on the nose. Some pear, apple, and water as well. Flavor is astringent grain, apple, and tea. Lemon zest, water, and pear. Meh. One of the least offensive offerings.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear wheat color. Aroma is light, honey, grains, and strangely apples. Taste is pretty much the same, pretty grainy.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is clear golden yellow with a small white head and decent lacing. Grainy, husky, straw, light corn, floral, and grassy aroma. Taste is cereal, corn, grainy, biscuit, bread, grass, and sweet honey. Light body with high carbonation. Refreshing but boring.

Can from world beverage loving delivered by my Wife. Awwwww, aint that just heartwarming? Yeast and dry cereal nose. Initial marshmallow head slowly settles to a quarter inch and sits and looks at you. Light amber in glass. Very little lacing. Hops appear on edges halfway thru and grow to crescendo thru the finish. Bert...coming at yah.... your kolsch numbers are low.

Gold pour from can. Taste is pepper, caramel, malt, grass and hay. Decent.

Can. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers), with light notes of kiwi, strawberry, and spearmint. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Pleasant fruity nose, but sadly the aftertaste is fairly husky. A little better than the average rendition.

On tap at Pateros Creek poured a clear gold with a lassting white head. Aromas of bread and light straw. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread and light earthiness with a crisp dry finish.

This Kolsch is a lightly hopped but yet a little hoppier than you’ll find in the German brewed Kolsch’s. For me that’s a plus. Very drinkable beer. I actually like this beer out of the can a little more than out of the tap but both are good. Not sure why but fortunately it’s getting easy to find this Kolsch in the local Fort Collins liquor stores.
