Can from world beverage loving delivered by my Wife. Awwwww, aint that just heartwarming? Yeast and dry cereal nose. Initial marshmallow head slowly settles to a quarter inch and sits and looks at you. Light amber in glass. Very little lacing. Hops appear on edges halfway thru and grow to crescendo thru the finish. Bert...coming at yah.... your kolsch numbers are low.

Can.
Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers), with light notes of kiwi, strawberry, and spearmint.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, slightly husky.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Pleasant fruity nose, but sadly the aftertaste is fairly husky. A little better than the average rendition.

This Kolsch is a lightly hopped but yet a little hoppier than you’ll find in the German brewed Kolsch’s. For me that’s a plus. Very drinkable beer. I actually like this beer out of the can a little more than out of the tap but both are good. Not sure why but fortunately it’s getting easy to find this Kolsch in the local Fort Collins liquor stores.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2012 This is a very pleasing Kolsch style beer. It’s a mild session ale in the 4.5 ABV range that goes well with many foods. I enjoy this with a burger or bratwurst. It doesn’t dominate flavors nor does it abuse the palate, so it’s a good starter beer for an evening of sampling. When I was in the Pateros Creek taproom one night, I overheard a German tourist mention that it was the best Kolsch he had tried outside of Cologne. That’s a good endorsement for Pateros.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy yellow pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of slight biscuit, bready notes, touch of spice and grass, slight lemon. Taste was pretty low key, but some notes of spicy noble hops, touch of grass and grain, slight biscuit and yeast, finishing very clean.
