3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured as a cloudy orange haze with a rather large coarse white head and streams of carbonation, an appearance that is simply unattractive to me. Aroma was hoppy and quite fruity. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor however, as my tastebuds were assaulted by a crisp, tart, sweet, and fruity swirl of effervescent flavors. These flavors proved delicious at first, but overpowering towards the bottom of the glass. It had a great thick mouthfeel, however, that helped make this an enjoyable drink. Not one of my favorite styles OR beers, but quite enjoyable nonetheless.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy golden orange color with a large white head. Sweet banana wheat aroma. Crisp clean taste with hints of clove. Not breathtaking but a solid hefe.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Christ, I always wondered what would happen if someone was able to mix the flavors of banana, cardboard, and yeast, and I have found it. BEAUTIFUL pour, AWFUL taste. Head is gorgeous and thick with medium lacing. First sip made me wince (seriously). There is an aftertaste I cannot put my finger on...blood?...a handful of coins?...ball bearings? Seriously, it tastes like bannana bread and auto bumper combined dusted with yeast. Highly over-rated beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a huge head that laces a little as it falls into a solid creamy mass. Cloudy orange. Banana, cloves, vanilla and yeast aroma. Flavour is nicely balanced with no overriding dominance. Has all the aroma flavours with some citrus in the finish. Palate is very smooth for a hefe, doesn't have that grainy aspect. Nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pous a cloudy, hazy, dirty/rusty water yellow/orange.
When I was younger I lived in a 4plex where the water came out of the tap that same color the first 3-4 minutes... ewww. Not so good when it's your water, but kind of interesting when it's your beer. The light sort of hits the middle and reflects back out.
Tall fluffy cream colored head, minimal lacing.
Aroma is bannana bread, and not much else.
flavor is sourdough bread & bannanas, with some clove spicyness in the background, and a lemony citrus finish.
Some bannana also noted in the finish.
crisp and refreshing.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Classic hefeweizen look: pale yellow color, impressively tall head, cloudy translucent body with an inner glow. Aroma has the banana nut muffin quality with the yeasty and bready notes predominant. It is typical of the style, but is not as strong as most others. Taste is again dominated by the yeast with sour dough, clove, citrus fruits, and bananas shining through. Typical German hefeweizen mouthfeel, but is a bit more yeasty.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 20, 2007 Comes in the long neck brown 330ml Euro crown top bottle. Had freshness date.
The pour was a delightful cloudy orange-amber with plenty of effervescence and a great puffy white Meringue of a head that pushed out of the glass then settled down to a clinging lace after a few quaffs.
Odors of citrus peel clove and nutty yeast undertones.
Starts with a blast of prickly carbonated citrus hop tastes then smoothes back on the palate with a creamy balance of nutty yeasts sweet malt and tart hop...then the finish is tart citrus with a wonderful subtle banana-bread aftertaste punctuated with a lingering metallic hop effect
Very light and refreshing with a bright citrusy mouth feel...a wonderful summer beer....probably one of the better commercially avalable import hefeweizens.
Rerated 6/2/04...After sampling a number of german Hefeweizens I return to Paulaner for a session....it is probably the smoothest and mellow-bodied of the imports available widely in Canada.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Overall I liked this beer, rich banana aroma capped by a dynamite taste; what more could you want? Only drawback is the color which seemed to be a little odd for a hefeweizen.

A pretty standard German weisse. A bit yeasty and fruity. Well balanced.

Banana is the one word which comes to mind. This is a most excellent Hefeweizen
