4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Let me iterate firstly that I have always been impartial to wheat/white beers. I really enjoy the citrus taste and find it a delicious alternative to the bitter side of beer when I need reprieve.
This beer has a foamy bright white head that dissipates at a medium to slow pace.
The taste is leans towards being one sided as most beers this style tend to be, though the individuality of the ingredients is best enjoyed without the usual orange/lemon slice that’s served in the glass.
The beer itself is gorgeous. A delightfully opaque bright orange glow accentuates the thick, sediment laden character of the beer, usually leaving flavorful sediment in the bottom of the glass/bottle you drink it from.
I’ve had this beer a thousand times either in a bottle or on tap -- it’s always a treat. Especially when you need to town down from a recent IPA binge.
I seem to bounce between these two styles of beer semi-regularly.

Tap @ Drink Baar. Pours hazy golden with nice white head. Aroma is banana, spices, coriander, and wheat. Taste follows the nose. Overall: it’s classic hefe. If you like hefeweizen, you’ll like this one.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
11.2 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a very hazy orange color. The eggshell-shaded head looks quite dense and sturdy at two fingers tall, but retention is just pretty good. It leaves behind sparse but thick looking lacing behind.
S: There actually isn’t much of a focus on esters here, and if there is, it’s definitely what I would consider more clove-forward. Not much banana or bubblegum. There’s also an earthy, bready tone provided by the combination of malts and yeast - and look! There are some hoppy touches, too! The quality of the aroma subtly sneaks up on me: I’m not too impressed at first, but the more I inhale it, the more enticing it becomes.
T: Definitely clove-oriented, balanced out by its mildly fruity midtaste. The latter reminds me somewhat of oranges with a dash of apricot. Some lactose cream pops up right before the swallow and on the finish. Not too complex, just really damn satisfying.
M: This is very crisp and refreshing. Definitely not a dry beer, though, and I’m perfectly okay with that. Given how drinkable it already is, a dry finish would ruin it. Low carbonation doesn’t impede, either.
O: Well, what else can I say apart from ’just another great German-brewed hefeweizen’?

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Cloudy yellow/orange. Decent foam that disipates somewhat quickly but keeps its presence throughout the glass.
Smell: Banana/citrus bits. Inviting.
Taste: Banana/citrus with a hit of wheat.
Mouthfeel: No worries on the carbonation, almost spot on. A very sessionable beer that tickles the tongue.
Overall: Definitely a very good beer. Not my overall favorite Hefeweizen, but it is definitely up there. A solid Hefe for people who want to expand their horizons.
Serving type: Bottle poured into a Weizen glass.
