jhagmar (114), Gothenburg, Sweden Sep 21, 2008 Bottle, thanks ekstedt. Golden, hazy, with white head. Light, anonymous, fruity aroma. Taste is light and refreshing. Light carbonation. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Sep 19, 2008 I thought I had rated this before, but I guess not so I took the time to do some on tap at the Addison Octoberfest. The beer looks a very cloudy golden orange color with a decent beige colored head. Smell is mucho banana, wheat, clove, and yeast. Taste is yeasty, fruity, and wheaty. Pretty decent beer. fata2683 (837), Panama City, Florida, USA Sep 19, 2008 Bottle, poured into weizen glass. Looks and smells delicious. Clove, banana, and yeast smells. Tastes nice and yeasty, with some wheat flavor. Ends citrusy to me with a long sour finish. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Sep 18, 2008 12 fl oz bottle purchased as part of a mix a six at Lukas, Kansas City, Missouri. Produced on 02/08 on label. I have no idea how I haven’t rated this beer yet. Pour is hazy cloudy yellow golden with streaking carbonation bubbles and a big 3 inch white head. Head slowly falls, leaving nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is clove, bananas, bubble gum and nice wheatiness. When I think Hefe nose, I think of this. As the beer warms, some smokiness becomes evident, adding a nice layer of complexity. Taste is initially the slightly tart wheat, with a nice clean transition into the cloves of the yeast. Clean palate, medium to thin - drinkable and refreshing. I have always really enjoyed this beer. Nothing complicated, just straight forward and delicious. pacaus (49), Dublin, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 17, 2008 Great beer! Taste is very nice with a hint fruit/banana/wheat/spice. Close to but not quite as good as the Weihenstephaner rampmaster (315), Alden, New York, USA Sep 14, 2008 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 11.2oz or 330ml bottle into a weizen glass.
Appearance: It has a cloudy appearance, lots of visible carbonation and a deep golden yellow color with a thick foamy white head. The head which builds up big and pillowy has very good retention and leaves lots of cool lacing on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has a deep malty wheat scent with hints of banana and a touch of spicy clove.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has a refined and well balanced mix of tangy wheat and sweet malty grain with fruity/earthy yeast that has hints of banana and clove. Hop flavor is very mild, clean, somewhat lemony and most noticeable in the finish which is fairly dry. Its mouth feel is smooth and creamy with a medium body that is very drinkable.
Notes: Overall it’s extremely refreshing and flavorful. Very well done.
Bierkrug (235), Idar-Oberstein (in Pakistan), Germany Sep 11, 2008 Updated: Dec 24, 2008One of my standard beers I drink at my local pub and normally have at home. Edges out both Franziskaner and Schneider-Weisse as the 2nd best German hefeweizen. More flavorful. Tons of banana-clove, bread, yeastiness and fruit. There is no better summer beer. Puts the embarassment that is American-style wheat beer to shame.
zvikar (413), Tel-Aviv, Israel Sep 10, 2008 From bottle, hazy bright honey color with beautiful large white head that diminish slowly, aroma of yeast banana and lemon, a pleasant banana flavor with crisp citrus (mostly grapefruit), aftertaste has some clove and a bit hoppy, great wheat beer.
