Leighton (234), New York, New York, USA Sep 28, 2009 Pretty solid hefe here. Pleasant hazy orange appearance, yeasty and citrusy nose. Flavor notes include coriander, orange, lemon and banana. Very smooth mouthfeel. Quite tasty. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 27, 2009 500 ml bottle - light haze, muddy yellow with fluffy egg white head; cloves, wheat, lemons and yeast; nice, light cream texture; kind of stale and flavor not living up to the nose; would love to try in Germany some day! Wombata (74), Kobe, Japan Sep 26, 2009 Appearance: Hazy orange
Aroma: Slightly funky
Flavor: Maltier and with more body than the Weihenstephener, though with less flavor and a shorter finish. Some coriander.
Palate: Fine creamy mouth feel.
Comment: On Tap. Relatively bland, heavier and less focused flavors than the Weihenstephener. I’ll pass on this one. fredthecat (179), Canada Sep 26, 2009 smells cheesy, yeasty. its dark amber with a lasting head, tastes lemony, wheaty, straightforwardly wheat. bubbly, popy, nice Beth101 (315), West Yorkshire, England Sep 25, 2009 Cloudy with a very good off white head. Aroma of grassy wheat and hops. Tastes of sweet grassy wheat quite smooth Geokkjer (256), Kristiansand, Norway Sep 22, 2009 Bottle.Pours cloudy golden with a white head.Orange ,banana and cloves in the nose.Banana ,cloves and sweet wheat in the mouth.Refreshing hefe. skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 21, 2009 This is your run of the mill good hefe from Germany. All the great clove and banana flavors, with that fantastic wheat background. This ranks in the middle of all the Bavarian hefes for me. Good, but not great. JRHBrew (216), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada Sep 19, 2009 Weird finish. Almost sharp.
The nose is very typical for the style (relying on my limited exposure to this style). The flavor is also typical with a nice citrus/fruit note. The mouth-feel is a little fizzy for me. But the real problem lies in the weird finish.
Despite the finish, beer is fantastic.
