UWPeteO (12), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Nov 13, 2007 Got this one on tap at Old Chicago in Madison. Hazy gold pour, some citrus flavor, minimal bitterness. Excellent hefe. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Nov 11, 2007 330 mL bottle. Cloudy, dirty blonde in colour with a good head. Mild hefe aroma. The flavour is citrus sour balanced by banana-yeast sweetness, but not strong. Some bitterness in the finish. Good, but far from overwhelming. jeremytoni (1072), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Nov 11, 2007 From a bottle poured hazy golden color with a good amount of head, and a little particulate in the bottom. Nice citrusy flavor with a good finish. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Nov 10, 2007 Updated: Sep 14, 2008old rating: 7/4/7/3/15 - 3.6
pours cloudy dark orange with a medium size foamy head that sticks around, very good lacing.
smell is wheat, lemon, touch of orange, yeast, banana notes in the background.
taste is thick and smooth, very wheaty, banana, a spice or two, touch of lemon, pear, apricot. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Nov 10, 2007 I’m not a hefe fan, but this one’s listed on the top 50 accessible beers, so I had to try it. Pours a typical hazy citrus orange colored hue. Nose is yeasty and bitter. Flavor is similar, with a touch of spice and sweetness. Finish is bitter and clean. One of the better hefe’s I have had, and the only German one. Not one of my favorite styles, but over all, not bad. dkazuk (247), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Nov 6, 2007 330ml bottle.
Pours a murkey pale orange with a small diminishing white head. No lacing. Aroma of yeast, fruit and spices. Feels full but still light and refreshing. The taste isn’t overfruity like other wheats I’ve had, which is nice. Flavour is citrusy fruit and yeast and ends on a warmer note of banana. Might buy again, Might not. BrianHagmeier (257), Coralville, Iowa, USA Nov 4, 2007 Updated: May 12, 2008Once again I find myself in love with another wheat beer from across the pond. Love it. Mmmmbeeer (14), USA Nov 3, 2007 I can’t figure out which is my favorite summer beer, this or Hoegaarden. But there’s nothing I like better on a warm summer afternoon than to sit outside at a beer garden and work my leisurely way through several of these with lemon. When they don’t have this or Hoegaarden, I’m kind of annoyed because it’s all I want. Hanging out and talking to friends, drinking these, it just yields a perma-grin. I imagine the purists scoff at the lemon, but it just came with it the first time I ordered it and it was great. So refreshing. And the lemon seeds rise up and down in it as the bubbles form and pop. This is a thirst-quenching beer with excellent fresh flavor. And yet it’s somehow also just a bit warm in the throat, inside or simultaneous with the chill. Really this review is fungible with Hoegaarden so I’ll post the same thing there.
