50cl bottle bb05/2015. Clear wet hay pour, husk-grainy and wet hay nose, wet hay and cooked green apple peel taste. Blunt, easily chuggable, pedestrian like the Barf&Busenfest itself.

Bottle. Somewhat disappointing Oktoberfest beer, too hoppy in character to my taste.

Aroma: sweet malts, hops, nice but no so refreshing Marzen smell. Taste: Malty, sweet, VERY drinkable. Light malty aftertaste and a little bit hoppy. Yellow colour with great white head, soft carbonation and good lacing. Very drinkable and refreshing; IMO perfect beer for hot days. Price [Warsaw, Poland] 8PLN

Bottle at the Mill, Cambridge. Dark gold with an attempt at a white head. Pretty carbonation. Aroma of porridge and citrus peel, with a bit of dough and walnut. Sweet taste with bitter and slightly peppery overtones, pretty good. Medium finish, slightly unbalanced bitter aftertaste. Carbonation doesn’t overtake the mouthfeel. Very tasty all in all, despite its shortcomings.

Bottle from Whole Foods Kensington. Light golden yellow colour with fair sparkle and white foam. Looks a bit macro lagery to be honest. Actually surprisingly nice, soft malts, grassy bitter hop finish, hides booze well, very moreish. More of a stronger helles to me than a big festbier. Munich beers are a funny one for me, sometimes I love the drinkability and delicacy, sometimes find the malts soggy and taste boring.

Wow this is a pretty disappointing effort from Paulaner, who normally produces excellent brews. It looks like Bud Light. The aromas are pretty bland; they just consist of some corn, wheat and sweet malt. Flavors are more of the same with some bready sweetness. Average mouthfeel. This style is usually not the most exciting style but this is below average even for the style.

Pure yellow color. If I didn’t see the label on this one, I would have assumed it was a Miller Lite, except that it does have more body/thickness, giving it one number higher. It isn’t see-through, and it isn’t awful. The aroma is interesting: a combination of corn syrup, cola, and purple grapes. It’s sweet, but not at all saccharine. It is complex, but not challenging. Pleasant, but not lowest common denominator. The flavor is more cola, a touch of corn syrup. The malts are sweet and corn-y, but also have a hint of cola. The hops are almost non-existent, because it’s all malts. There is another wine-y, purple grape flavor int he taste too. The feel is smooth and buttery. It’s just a terrific, sweet beer with not a hint of hops to it. it’s more like a wine than a beer, or maybe a mead. Very solid brew.

Poured from 1L can (from Frankfurt airport). Clear, pale yellow with white head. Grainy malt, mild sweetness, some subtle grass and hay with mostly hidden bitterness. Medium body. Tastes like a decent lager.

Draft at Gourmet Haus Staudt. Clear bright golden appearance with a lasting white head. The aroma is bready and grainy, with some cracker to it. The flavor it’s rather uninspiring, but fine. Mild sweetness and a moderately bitter finish, grainy with cracker. Medium-light body with lively carbonation. Drinkable but certainly not exciting.
