UPDATED: JAN 31, 2004 Plenty of head initially, not lasting; typically German flavored malts and yeast; slightly sweet, though well balanced,a bit metallic tasting; pretty good brew, lighter body, clean finish.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Great oktoberfest brew. As with all of the paulaner beers this one sets a standard. anything better is as good as it gets and anything worse is crap. Paulaners brews are very suggestive of the style. in other words if you want to try a good standard oktoberfest try this.

Pale amber color. Weak white head. Hints of toffee in the aroma. Flavor holds some caramel and maltiness. Good drinking beer.

(Bottle) Pours a golden yellow color with a small off-white head. Descent taste that improved as the beer warmed.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled. Yellow to golden colour, small bubbles, glass sticking head, disappears fast. Clear body.
Sweetish aroma of malt, honey, syrupy, wort-like, a bit cooked cereal-like aroma when the beer warmt. Weak hop notes.
Taste is sweet, sweetness is more similar to white candy sugar than honey sweetness. Clean herbal bitter. Dry, thin body, watery texture. Unexciting.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The only first impression is lager, pale colour and creamy head. This doesn't last long but there is a reasonable carbonation evident. The nose is a clear malty and toasty one. On tasting it is good and solid beer that has the balanced profile of this style.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I had this two weeks ago but am finally getting around to rating it.
Drank from the bottle at a local bar. I really liked the heavy carbonation in this beer. Mouthfeel almost felt like a cola, but it's definitely beer :) Slightly bitter aftertaste which I could live without, but it's the best out of 6 octoberfests that I've had this season.
