Bottle. Pale yellow with a white head. Smells like 5-56 (I can’t bother explain... ;-) ). Flavour is a bit sourish, I had higher expectations...

[Bottle from Alexander shared in Palles summerhouse.] Paulaner makes a lot of good german beers and this one is included. Lots of ingredients and nice aftertaste.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2011 Deep rich maltiness as you would expect from a OF, nutty, sweetish then slightly dry. gets better as you drink it (for me anyway), started off nice but by the end I thought it was excellent.

Mungo (2471) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - OCT 13, 2006
Bottle (From Bitter Virtue). Bland malt and mild bitterness in the finish. Some alcohol is apparent. Finishes slightly sweet with some fruity alcohol. Lacks the clean refreshing crispness of lighter german lager or the lip smackingly full maltiness of the dark strong ones, a bit pointless really.

MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 12, 2006
A Mes rate: Tap from the Bavarian Brewhouse in Old Street. Mellow and malty in the nose but pleasant enough. Golden body with a reasonable head and plenty lace. Initial malted biscuit flavour becomes breaded and then balances out with some hops for a bitter finish. Not bad

TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 10, 2006
Draught at Brew Wharf at London Bridge (London), a very carbonated pale yellow with a filmy white head. A subtle vinuous and wheat aroma with some fruit. Flavours are very corn-like, very clean palate though. I expect (hope) better in its home country.

Furseth (2025) - Kungälv, SWEDEN - OCT 10, 2006
Bottle: Clear yellow colour, with a nice white head. Aroma of malts and a bit of hops, citric, caramel. Flavor is almost the same, thin body, lots of maltynes,a bit sparkling on the tung, short to medium dry bitter finish.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2007 (Draught at The Rover, Göteborg) Pours light golden. Malty, herb-ish aroma. Clean and light nose with hints of lemon. Clean light body with herb-ish hops. Small bitterness but ok malt character. (Second try, bottle) Sweet and rich malt up front in the aroma with hints of bread, toast and honey. Light perfume like hops with tones of herbs and soft floral tones. A touch of dough in the background. Good, creamy malt flavour with the hops in the background. Some Light bitter herbs, lemon and hints of grass and flowers. Soft and round mouthfeel. Light crisp and light doughy. Medium bodied. Nice with a good, friendly balance.

As "Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier"
Clear pale golden color, small white head. Malty, sweet, a tad bit fruity scent. Sweet, malty, though perhaps too weaek, taste. Medium to moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness. Dry aftertaste. Mouthfeel goes weak/flat quite fast.

This was the first liter of Oktoberfest beer that I had in Munich last year. SInce then it has been one big beer fest. I tried this again recently from bottles. I love this style and this time of year. It has a huge malty, roasted sweetness. It seems a little more amber than I remember. The alcohol is apparent and pleasent. Very good tasting beer that should be consumed by the litre.
