Bottled, JDW Ocktoberfest. Deep yellow, scant white head. Sweetness to the aroma and the flavour, simple mildly hopped finish, enjoyable but not outstanding.

Bottle at the JDW in Twickenham. Pale yellow, slight head. Sweet malty, apparent alcohol, slightly syrupy.

Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 18, 2004
Yellow colored, white head. Surprisingly light colored for märzen. Sweet and fusel aroma with notes of alcohol, not disturbingly though. Medium bodied. Sweet start in flavor, some grass, fusel and fruit come up too. Notes of hops in the end. Little disappointment for Paulaner, too thin and mild in many cases.

Clear spritzy appearence. Malty aroma with malt on the palate and some spice but I found this slighlty Uninspiring.

Bottle from JDW, Paradise Forum, Birmingham. Lager coloured, no head. Baked bean aroma - a common feature of Marzen beers (I have observed). Strongish, crispy flavour, not too much different than a good Deutsch Pils, but slightly more insistent, with a tinge of thickness in the finish. Niceish - haven’t really made up my mind.

Golden with a white head of foam. Aromas are sweet grain, butter, light pepper and yeast. Flavours are sweet malts, grain, corn and some pear. Vapour dry ans spicy on the finish. OK.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2006 As good as Ayinger, and Hacker-Pschorr. Much better than Spaten. Clean, crisp flavor with a nice roasted malt flavor with just the right amount of bitterness to finish.

A pretty good flavor that laces smoothly against your tongue, goes down nicely with an appropriate finish. Representative of German beer. Just a well balanced beer overall.

Pale golden pour with an orange tint seemed a bit light for a fest bier. The body was topped by a short lived off-white head that left some decent lacing as it departed. The aroma was richly malty with earthy, bready notes wafting through. The taste was as advertised, with bready, caramel malt, and sweet esters giving just a hint of bananas. The aftertaste was grainy with a touch of herbal hops. A bit closer to a macro offering than I prefer, but a very appropriate session drink for the season.

Tap (and came with a free 1L mug, hell yeah) Clear copper color. Not poured with a head that you should find on an oktoberfest. I blame the bar for that. Aroma is lightly sweet and of caramel. Malty sweet flavors. Crisp medium body with a spicy finish.
