3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: Crystal clear gold with a big solid white head. Lots of sweet, buttery malts upfront, a little sulphur, and some elusive golden floral notes. Very slight phenolic notes later on. Buttery and nutty malts with a soft lemony aftertaste (and a bit of dust). A little astringent but quenching nonetheless.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light colored beer with a decent head that sticks around for a little while. Very fizzy in the mouth, but yields a nice light taste. Definitely will drink again.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Bready, semi-malty aroma. Clear golden colour. The head is small, white and semi-stable. Flavour is slightly malty, at least balanced towards the malt, but nothing special. Slightly creamy mouthfeel.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled, 0.5 liter. This one’s from memory. Amber coloured, dying head. Initially sweet flavour, malts are dominant. Some bitterness in the end. Didn’t think it was that special, but thanks to my mom for always bringing back beers from holiday that i haven’t had before!

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Always a treat to sample a Paulaner. This is a typically well crafted brew. Poured a bright gold with a 2.5cm head that deflated disappointingly quickly but left a thin mat of foam. Fresh malty aroma has sweet honey notes and some wet cardboard. Smooth, well rounded palate, clean and refreshing. Dominated by malt - sweet honey notes up front and a moderately bitter finish. A decent marzen but lacking the character of their superb Hefeweizen. (33cl bottle, Camperdown Cellars, best before 8/05)
