The aroma is of caramel malts, and bread and biscuits. The flavor is mainly caramel malts. The finish has a nice hop bite near the end, which then hangs in for a while. One of the nicer Marzens out there. emacgee (1864), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

It goes down smooth and doesn’t offend in any way. caramel, pale, clear, a minimal head, light body, thin feel, soft carbonation. LtDan (478), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 12, 2008 Very faint aroma of carmel. Flavors of sweet fruit and caramel. Very refreshing, and much smoother than other top rated Oktoberfest beers. Kinz (2186), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 11, 2008 Sampled at the JRHB club meeting. Always a nice surprise to be at one of the meetings, sample a beer I know I’ve had many times before, and then discover I’ve never rated it. I think that a lot of this is because with a lot of the "classic" examples, I had them for years prior to finding Ratebeer, but 5 years into it and 1900+ beers later, it is hard to remember some of these old brews. In any case, medium amber, clear, slight head. Aroma was lightly malty with faintly floral hops. Flavor is the same, perhaps lightly grassy. Not bad, not great. skidney (6), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 10, 2008 This is by far the most preetty amber color ever with little to no head depending on pour. The beer tastes very non offensive almost salty sweet with brine and peanut taste. A taste of freshly baked breate with almost no taste of the %6 ABV. Taste this as soon as possible. Not the best but still great. The appearance alone is worth the try. yesyouam (589), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2008 Paulaner Oktoberfest Märzen is a clear amber beer with a large, fluffy, oily, off-white head that leaves nice lacing. It has a pretzely aroma of deep grain that seems almost salty. It is medium bodied, bubbly, dry and crisp. It tastes like pretzels. The flavor is well balanced and there’s a touch of bitterness at the finish. It’s refreshing and very german.
