LtDan (470), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA Sep 12, 2008 Very faint aroma of carmel. Flavors of sweet fruit and caramel. Very refreshing, and much smoother than other top rated Oktoberfest beers. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Sep 11, 2008 Sampled at the JRHB club meeting. Always a nice surprise to be at one of the meetings, sample a beer I know I’ve had many times before, and then discover I’ve never rated it. I think that a lot of this is because with a lot of the "classic" examples, I had them for years prior to finding Ratebeer, but 5 years into it and 1900+ beers later, it is hard to remember some of these old brews. In any case, medium amber, clear, slight head. Aroma was lightly malty with faintly floral hops. Flavor is the same, perhaps lightly grassy. Not bad, not great. skidney (6), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA does not count Sep 10, 2008 This is by far the most preetty amber color ever with little to no head depending on pour. The beer tastes very non offensive almost salty sweet with brine and peanut taste. A taste of freshly baked breate with almost no taste of the %6 ABV. Taste this as soon as possible. Not the best but still great. The appearance alone is worth the try. yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA Sep 9, 2008 Paulaner Oktoberfest Märzen is a clear amber beer with a large, fluffy, oily, off-white head that leaves nice lacing. It has a pretzely aroma of deep grain that seems almost salty. It is medium bodied, bubbly, dry and crisp. It tastes like pretzels. The flavor is well balanced and there’s a touch of bitterness at the finish. It’s refreshing and very german. johnnyoski (160), Macomb, Michigan, USA Sep 9, 2008 12oz bottle, labeled as Octoberfest Marzen: Amber pour with an off-white head that quickly disappears. Aroma conists of caramel, roasted malt and a hint of fruit. Sweet initial taste gives way to a slight bitterness and ultimately finshes with a faint sweetness. Medium in body and not overly carbonated. Nicely balanced and not too dry like some others within this style. klavoie22 (16), Newmarket, New Hampshire, USA Sep 6, 2008 No the best oktoberfest but its okay, the sweet hangs on for a bit, finishes decent. Indulgence (141), Ajo, Arizona, USA Sep 6, 2008 This is a typical lager that I can get into, otherwise I find lagers pretty yucky... pours a deep amber with a small head, smell of candied, rotten, sour fruits... easy drinking and mildly sweet... I could get into these kind of lagers. s01gs (17), Göteborg, Sweden Sep 6, 2008 Looks a little tired... Pale golden coulour with a head that disappeared way too quickly. The taste is rather sweet and malty and goes well with pork and sauerkraut as a beer like this should. Overall not as good as I remembered it from previous years.
