pour is a clear amber with a large off-white head, good lacing.
smell is of malt, hay, caramel, some grain.
taste of malt, some caramel, roasted nuts, cheerios, grain, ends slightly dry and slightly bitter. MagooinPA (99), Warminster, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 20, 2007 12oz pour. Nice fluffy head that laces till done. Aroma of a classic Oktoberfest. Malt, malt and more malt with a surprising spicy hop punch. This is a classic Fest Beer as the lingering flavor is of Fall and apples, crisp + sweet. For such a commercial brewery, this is worthy as is the price by the case here in PA. Less than $30 US. maeib (4672), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Oct 19, 2007 Bottled. A golden colourd lager with hardly any head. The aroma and taste have some good noble hops. The malts are nice and balancing and on no way have that buttery off tastes I find with some maerzens. Nice alcohol levels also. This is a very nice fest beer, and a credit to such a large brewer. conor23 (110), Elgin, Illinois, USA Oct 17, 2007 Aroma has hints of fruit and flowers. Taste is rich and hoppy with just a hint of sweetness. As far as Oktoberfest seasonals go, this is one of the best. mvcramer (229), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA Oct 16, 2007 1L on draft at Paulaner’s 2007 Oktoberfest tent in Munich.
Darker beer than most of the other similar-styled offerings at Oktoberfest. I must admit that the 2 Liters that I consumed were liters #4 and 5 on the day, so my judgment may have been impaired at this point. If my handwriting at that point is any indication, then I was a bit tipsy at this point. BUT, since I am giving the beer high marks, I did not want to shortchange Paulaner! Overall sweet malty body and balanced hoppy finish. Bit heavier than I had expected. basher (12), murray, Kentucky, USA Oct 16, 2007 Poured into a mug, nice light amber color with a small tan head.
Malty caramel flavor, with a little spice added on the end. Leaves a nice toasted caramel flavor in the mouth.
One of my new favorite ambers...definitely more character than Dos Equis Amber or Amber Bock.
