mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA Aug 29, 2007 Poured a lovely orange/light brown with a nice resilent off-white head. The nose had a slight toastiness, gentle caramelly malts and a nice nuttiness. The flavor started with mostly biscuity and caramel malts with a trace of roastiness and nuttiness. The finish was nicely crisp with Noble hops. I really enjoyed how this beer was hopped, just enough to counter the sweetness and not a smidge more. This beer is a really nice marzen, I think it could stand to be a little fuller in the mouth though. LinusStick (1830), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 20, 2007 Aroma of sticky wet malt. Pour was a dark amber with no head...which contradicts the image of Oktoberfest in my mind. A busty blond German girl holding 2 mugs of beer with the heads overflowing. Taste was a little watery with little carbonation. Stale caramel malt with some suprise bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad but I’ve had better this week. MissK (20), Cleveland Heights, Ohio, USA Aug 18, 2007 Amber color with foamy head. Looks like it’s full of carbonation, but goes down smooth without a carbonated feel. Tastes hoppy, full of flavor. Very smooth. Great fall ale - try it with a hot, soft pretzel. NJBeerman013 (761), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Aug 16, 2007 Bottle. Pours a brilliant amber with a creamy white head. The beer is rich, smooth and malty with a light floral hop character. It has a rich, full mouthfeel. This style one of the biggest reasons I look forward to the fall. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 14, 2007 Musty sweet aroma when you pop the lid on this 12 oz bottle. Slightly darker than your normal pale yellow american lager, has some red or orange tinge in there. No head, as absent as the head of Mr. Clean. Palate hit is mild barely there carbonation. Does not have the alky bite of a 6%, well hidden. Finish is lacking the malty bitter bite so common with many higher alky beers. Enjoyable and controlled. Not as good as Stoudt’s, Schell or Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest Märze, but can hold it’s own against the rest. EHSRanders (1121), Randers C, Denmark Aug 12, 2007 Bottle. Clear golden colour with medium creamy white mostly diminishing head. Malty aroma. Sweet flavor with a little bitterness at the end. douglas88 (1555), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 10, 2007 Bottle. Smooth amber beer with a good finish. Decent, but I’d love to get a fresher try with it on tap. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Aug 9, 2007 8/8/07 From the bottle. Aroma is sour munich malt forward followed by some not-to-style caramel. Sweet, with no hop aroma. Appearance is medium copper with a moderate off-white head. Flavor is slightly sweet with sour munich malt. Slightly earthy, but not from hop character and very low bittering. Mouthfeel is lightly creamy with a low carb bite and a dry finish. Overall, not bad, but not very exciting versus many other Oktoberfests/Marzens out there.
