Earth tones, light carbonation, medium body, pale amber in color, rich head quickly diminishing. bhensonb (4248), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 19, 2007 Aroma of sweet, roasted malt; backed by a bit of citrus hop (small bit). The vigorous white head dissipated quickly. Very nice amber color. Decent mouthfeel. Starts with a bit of caramel, followed by earthy, roasty tones. The hop is present, but it is playing second fiddle. It’s a bit sweet on into the finish, and the hop does not quite balance this. Interesting, though. Demonstrates how an ale can surpass a lager in a classic style (at least the bottle says ale, and the excellent aromas and flavors support that). Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 15, 2007 beer festival. golden body, solid imposing white head. smells very earthy, of dirt and vegetables and hay. tastes of sweet malts, wheat, yeast finish is acidic and hoppy. its pretty good. but not great for the style. jalichio999 (502), Brazil
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 13, 2007 Bottle. Golden coloration. Floral and fruity aroma, better than the flavor. High/medium carbonation. Lightly bitter. Beltramelli (471), Campinas, Brazil
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 12, 2007 Coloração âmbar transparente, creme pouco denso e nada persistente. No nariz sobressai o malte e um levíssimo floral. Aguada. Amargor moderado e agradável. Adstringente. Preferivelmente servir bem gelada. Glouglouburp (2815), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 5, 2007 Clear blonde body with a small white head. Aroma was a little skunky. Minimal malt extraction with basic cereals taste. Distant citrus fruit and almost no hops presence. Not at all what I came to expect from an Oktoberfest (almost felt kolsh-ish). I drank the beer as soon as it arrived in Montreal but I suspect it wasn’t very fresh. Either that or it is part of Germany’s initiative of reducing Oktoberfest’s alcohol consumption. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Apr 4, 2007 A typical Okto type beer. A strong caramel malt aroma and taste. Nothing stands out as far as aroma or taste, ie no hops. A fun drink for the time of year. MontereyJimbo (79), Monterey, California, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Mar 31, 2007 I know this is a popular beer, but I don’t get it. Medium to dark amber, Light hoppy taste, sweetish, coppery, not a pleasant tasting beer, brackish aftertaste that makes you want to drink a pilsener. No thanks, Marzenbier is not for me.
