Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 5, 2007 Clear blonde body with a small white head. Aroma was a little skunky. Minimal malt extraction with basic cereals taste. Distant citrus fruit and almost no hops presence. Not at all what I came to expect from an Oktoberfest (almost felt kolsh-ish). I drank the beer as soon as it arrived in Montreal but I suspect it wasn’t very fresh. Either that or it is part of Germany’s initiative of reducing Oktoberfest’s alcohol consumption. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA Apr 4, 2007 A typical Okto type beer. A strong caramel malt aroma and taste. Nothing stands out as far as aroma or taste, ie no hops. A fun drink for the time of year. MontereyJimbo (79), Monterey, California, USA Mar 31, 2007 I know this is a popular beer, but I don’t get it. Medium to dark amber, Light hoppy taste, sweetish, coppery, not a pleasant tasting beer, brackish aftertaste that makes you want to drink a pilsener. No thanks, Marzenbier is not for me. graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 29, 2007 pours a nice amber into the glass with a bit of a white head on it. Aroma is fruity and sweet. The flavor is nice and malty with some nice fruitiness and nutiness. Very smooth and drinkable. Pretty damn good! orville (160), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA Mar 26, 2007 Updated: Apr 4, 2007(bottle) Very pleasant and drinkable marzen. Smooth and malty, but not as good as others in Bavaria. Lacks the big flavor you want and in the bottle over here in the states its kind of too much on the stomach for session drinking, but I would certainly have it again. burpfrank (293), carpinteria, California, USA Mar 24, 2007 Not much aroma.Color amber.Small head.Sweet tasting.Carmelly.and smooth malt.Very inactive beer.Has decent body.Pretty good beer, but there are much better ones to choose from. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 12, 2007 Pint Bottle... Poured a bright amber color with a moderate beige head. Malty, grain-like aroma. A nice light carbonation on the palate that’s nice and creamy. Caramelized, malt-like flavors with other notes of fruit, vanilla, a minute hops. Finishes nice. BustedFlat (552), Edina, Minnesota, USA Mar 11, 2007 Poured from pint bottle into a pint glass, reddish amber with a medium beige head. Aroma was faint with a hint of light sweet malt. The flavor was similiar, sweet malt, very smooth, no bitterness. Nice carbonation.
