Pours a deep copper color. Very little head here. I was expecting something overly malty, but this has a pleasant hop bitterness to it. Can’t wait for my local Oktoberfest celebration! This beer is getting me psyched for it. Addendum: lots of grain flavor towards the end of the glass. CanIHave4Beers (862), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 9, 2009 Pours a nice orange whith hints of grey and lots of bubbles with loose medium white head. The aroma has a kiss of noble hops, some skunk, and a light roasty nutty maltiness. The flavor is unique and has a herbal candy note, not quite bold enough to be licorice, complimented well by a nice little hop bitterness. fluffy (229), Florida, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 8, 2009 aroma is somewhat malty with some caramel notes. flavor is bright and tangy, with some honey notes and a little soda bread bite. aftertaste has some mild astrigent character and a little butteriness. I love Paulaner’s hefe but in the end this is kinda blah. StLsportsfan (35), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Sweet, caramel, slightly bitter finish, blah blah blah. You can read the same description on the next 5 posts. Generic Marzen. This just doesn’t have enough oomh.
Try one, but don’t bother with a six-er.

Aroma shows sweet malts, honey, slight iced tea, barley. Taste is sweet, rich and malty, slightly light bodied with a dry finish. Does not stick out amongst its style and I’m a fan of the brewery. Nice dark copper/brown color. Nice fluffy head that eventually fades away. An average look for a marzen lager. Fairly transparent. That caramel malt is very pungent. Not a heavily hopped from what I smell, but there is a slight hop aroma; still a fairly pungent beer, but not very nuanced. Malty beer that doesn’t add up. The beer is very light in terms of a marzen lager. I was expecting a creamier palate, and a thicker beer. Caramel malt flavor is there, but not very nuanced. A slight biscuit and hop flavor towards the end. Not a very memorable beer for me. Glad to have tried. gunnar (515), Sandnes, Norway
