3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BVery (1976) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - SEP 24, 2011
UPDATED: SEP 27, 2011 1L can; tap - light gold pour with a small white head. Interesting color/palate for an Octoberfest - a little lighter on both counts than most. Bready malts, some caramel, some floral elements, and just a touch of spice. Pretty nice.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rwgould (200) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 24, 2011
1L can. Not sure if this is the US version but i don’t think so. Labelling on the can seems to be for Europe/Canada. Appearance: Clear golden yellow, huge frothy head. Aroma: Very spicy, notes of cloves, ginger, cinnamon, but I don’t find it that pleasing. Palate: Fairly thin bodied, but not watery. Pretty smooth, but it has a bit of a bite all the way through. Taste: Quite sweet. Not bitter at all. Kind of a simple beer. My first Oktoberfestbier. Not sure I like it.

50cl bottle. Golden coloured with a small white head. Smells alamonds, honey and malt. Tastes bubbly, malty and abit sweet with a bitter malt finish.

1 liter can. Poured aclear gold with a 3 finger frothy cap. Fairly well carbonsted. Aroma was demure - bready malts over some grassy-herbal noble hops, Medium-light body, light in character, slick mouth feel. Flavor follows aroma - bready toasty malting in front, rouded mellow taste hops show in the finish. Not the best Munich helles but a real ket down if you were looking for the amber marzen that is normally called "Oktoberfestbier"
2.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 chefelf (55) - New York, USA - SEP 24, 2011
I really love Paulaner but this was maybe their weakest beer I’ve had. It has a lovely appearance and taste but I couldn’t get over the smell. It smelled like wet dog. After doing a Google search I find discussion that this is a characteristic in some beers. I’m not sure if this is a typical note for this beer or if I just had an off bottle. I’ve experienced this a few times before but this was the most pronounced.
I enjoyed the beer overall but it was hard to get over that smell, particularly after taking a sip.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Spookgolds (180) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 24, 2011
Got this in a 1L can that came with a dimpled mug as a gift set. I really just bought it for the mug, but the beer isn’t bad. It’s good for drinkin in the fall.

I am pretty sure there is wheat in this. served 1L can in dimpled mas. fluffy white head disappeared fast, nice lacing beautiful deep yellow, smell carbolic acid-camphor (regular listerine?), raw bread dough, taste the same, light carbonation. i am glad I got a mas with the deal.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 gyllenbock (1608) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 20, 2011
Bottle.
Clear golden with a huge white head. Sweet aroma of malt, grain and some citrus. The same in the taste. Thin body and not that interesting to be honest.
