mcdav2154 (289), Germany Aug 13, 2009 Amber colored body with a creamy white head. some lacing. Smell is of malt, spices, and caramel. Taste was very refreshing with notes of butter, bread, and very creamy. Good hop balance with the sweetness of the malt. I enjoyed how refreshing it was after a wet day of golfing. ausleerenstein (5), knoxville, Tennessee, USA does not count Aug 8, 2009 had a 24oz draft at a restaurant called ol heidelberg in huntsville ala and promptly had four more with my jagerschnitzel. if anyone hasn’t had this yet find it on draft if possible and drink one ore more this is one of the great beers brewed today dalek123 (103), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 18, 2009 Pours brownish with a good sized white head. Lots of carbonization. Nose is sweet caramel. Taste is spicy, with notes of sugar, malt, and nuts. This is smooth and crisp. A delightful experience. rmussman (905), California, USA Jul 17, 2009 Sampled in the US. A pretty well made Marzen. A really good drinking brew, capable of multiple. Pours cloudy light brown with a pretty thick head. Drinks with a light hoppy, light citris / spiced taste. A well made classic. ben4321 (951), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 30, 2009 Overall Impression:
A pretty decent example of the style, I like this beer, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get one, I do find it to be a goo deal better on draft then from a bottle. vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Jun 28, 2009 Bottle. Was available at party today. Brown pour. Flavors of dark wheat, sugar, and nuts. Decent beer. jimmbo123 (37), Washington, USA Jun 16, 2009 Flavors are very mild. Overall this gives the impression of a what a basic beer should be. The blandness of the main stream beers is said to be an intentional marketing ploy - "to offend as few people as possible." I believe that this beer is the best I have ever tasted which is not in conflict with that. In other words, anyone who likes the main stream beers should love this one.
If you want a lot of flavor look elsewhere. Skidds (252), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 2, 2009 Poured amber in color with a creamy, off-white head that settle to a thin cover and left light lacing. The aroma was of caramel, spices, and a light roast. The flavor found chocolate and spices. Light body with a malty aftertaste.
