COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When the Original Münchner was brewed for the first time at the end of the 19th Century, it was a spectacular success. With its hoppy taste, subtle, light and elegant, it becomes ever popular. Today the Paulaner Original Münchner is the best sold Münchner Hellbier (lager beer) in the world and Paulaner's No. 1 export beer in over 30 countries with its wonderfully subtle, spicy, naturally hearty taste.

Bottle. Yellow-gold with a substantial white head. Aroma is bready sweet, hops are quite noticeable, background note of DMS. Taste is bready pilsner malt sweet, some apple juice hints, spicy hops. Finish is lightly sweet with a cleansing dry bitterness. This must be the prototype for the style, it’s very well done and makes you feel you are imbibing in a beer garden. Prost!

Közepes, tartós hab, borostyán szín. Enyhe, lágeres, gyümölcsös illat. Kissé édeskés, malátás ízvilág, a háttérben kissé zöldfüves aromával. Közepesen testes és szénsavas, enyhén keserű. Finom, jól eltalált, ivósör.

Pale yellow, clear. Malts, hay and hops on the nose. Malts and cereal, refreshing and easy to drink but not watery. Good for what it is but nothing impressive.

Better than the mass produced light lagers. But still lacking enough flavour to be a great beer. The style needs to be pushed a little harder for flavour and not popularity. Can in Munich. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

DATE: August 5, 2016... OCCASION: The Olympic opening ceremonies begin, while I wait for Jerry and Matt to arrive... GLASSWARE: Ommegang pokal... crystal clear, imperial golden body that has a fleeting, off-white head that takes the form of uneven suds...solitary bubbles... a perfumed lightly, aromatically hopped--lilac and with crisp cracker malts making for an invitation... smooth, light, slightly syrupy, but highly drinkable and uninhibited... a light-bodied lager that dissipates without much of a draw or drag... the taste profile is soft and apologetic, with less of a "hearty" impact than expected... a bit beefy, with the vegetable and butter flavors of an honest lager... as Paulaners go, no match for the hefe, but a pleasantly light lager that has hints of toasted bread, flowers and dry champagne...

Bottle. Wine Rack, Sharrow, Sheffield. Dark gold label showing Paulaner Münchner Hell Munich Lager. Crystal clear, bright gold. Thin, bubbly, white head. Nose has sweet grain. Light, leafy hop. Thin sick. Taste is bready sweet. Minimal bitterness. Clean enough mouthfeel. Light body. Finish has some dryness. Ok. Prefer a German lager to have more grassy hop, though.
