2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
2006: copied from BA. These modern Marzens, well, they are not the same as the old ones, are they?
20 Brown .5 litre bottles, best before mid 07.
No real aroma from my bottles.
A good pilsner maybe, a good marzen, no.
A pleaseant enough beer, but why are all the main Munich brewers numbing down their Marzen beers? It couldn’t be anything to do with cost and time could it? Surely not!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
The body has a deep coppery amber color with very good clarity. On top sits a tall light beige head. It is light, fluffy and fades out quickly leaving only a little spotty lacing at the top of the glass. Its aroma is full of sweet bready, toasted and roasted malts with a touch of nutty character, caramel candy and noble hops. There is also a very slight hint of mineral like or hard water like aroma. The flavor is much the same as the aroma. It has loads of sweet malty goodness with nice nutty and roasted character. Its sweetness fades towards the finish and leafy/mineral like hop favors come in and add a nice balance of flavor and bitterness. It finishes crisp and clean and has a nice solid medium body which is extremely drinkable. The carbonation is soft which make for a very smooth texture.

Aroma smells of baking bread and cereal and a hint of citrus. Pours out a very formidable dark gold color shading towards amber with a pretty decent head that has staying power, is even, and laces the glass well. Very good balance between malt and hops with a medium body and live carbonation. Sweet on the tongue and then turns bitter at mid-palate and stays that way through the finish. It’s tasty and gets the job done for sure.

Not impressive. A little too bitter. Doesn't like the after taste... ... ...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at home from backlog notes. Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted bread, caramel, hay, some light fruit notes. Clean and drinkable for an Octoberfest, not something I would revisit at home.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rated from notes taken 2 Sep 2011 -- Had this beer at an Oktoberfest tasting. This was the best beer they had available. In my opinion if you are comparing a festbier, you have to compare it to this beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
16.9oz bottle (Old Notes)-Pours amber with a decent sized head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and slight toffee. Taste of the same with some light hops coming thru. This medium bodied brew is definitely one of the better Oktoberfests.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at home. Light aroma of malt, not much else. The flavor is sweet malt. Grainy, corny finish with some fresh acidity. Very one dimensional. Kind of sucks.
