An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of caramel, while the flavor is sweet malty, but also with notes of caramel, and a light touch of straw, leading to a dry end.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Colore ambrato, odore pane, malto. Sapore malto, finale amaro poco incisivo. Bevuta alla spina, forse l’impianto non perfettamente pulito ha influito sull’odore e sapore.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at Drink Baar in Tallinn. Near clear golden with a deep coppery hue. Head’s off-white with moderate retention and lace. Sourish redcurrant aroma, sweet caramel, then some grains, and then... chicken stew - and I can’t get rid of that. Tastes sweet of caramel, and sour of red berries. Faint bitterness, some graininess. Overall a nice, pleasantly sweet character. Faint metallic notes too. Medium body and active carbonation. Kinda sticky on the palate. Overall - a nice easy-drinker, surely a good company for various occasions.

If you’re a purist, Oktoberfest-Marzen will likely match your perceptions of what a German Oktoberfest beer should be like. It pours copper-colored with a magnificent off-white topping of suds. It smells malty and sweet. Flavor is rich and smooth. Sugary but not cloying. Medium-bodied mouthfeel with light carbonation. Whether you’re a German beer enthusiast or someone who’s just getting into foreign styles, Paulaner’s Marzen is an excellent choice.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tap. Slightly hazy orange beer, creamy white head. Nose is caramel, nutty and toasty notes, caramel, and some grainy sourness as it warms. Flavor is malty, caramel, metallic and grainy sourness plus some hops. Dry notes in the finish. I’m not sure it’s supposed to be this sour, maybe I got a bad sample.

50cl on tap (as Paulaner Oktoberfest Märzen) at Drink Baar, Tallinn. Clear copper coloured with a rather modest, off-white head. Malty and slightly bready aroma with hints of caramel, toasted malt and metal. Medium sweet with mild malty notes and a mild herbal bitterness in the finish. Fairly tasty, except for the metallic notes, but still quite drinkable.
