UPDATED: SEP 4, 2003 A German friend I ran into at the liquor store recommended this, and he wasn't wrong. Medium to light head, nice amber tea color, very clear. Fruity/candied nose with a nice yeasty quality -- absolutely no German Beer Skunk. Great mouth. Sweet, toasty and has a good trailing hop.

THE classic interpretation of this style. Hey folks-- Oktoberfests are meant as a darker, chuggable beer. Syrupy Spatens or unbalanced Sam Adams don’t ’cut the mustard’-- with brats ’n’ kraut or otherwise, like this one. Yum!

Tastes like hoarhound candy. In a good way. I’m not a German beer fan, but this one is quite decent.

A disappointment from this great brewer. Too hoppy by a bit for the style; not distinctive; I pretty much agree with what Kaya161 just said. Sam Adams is far better as far as I’m concerned.

Deep orange/light amber colour. Mild malt aroma, medium bodied. It doesn’t have the malt complexity, nor the body that I expected. It almost tastes like a a more robust version of their Original Munich Lager. I guess this is what a traditional Oktoberfest is though. Although this is a great beer, I still prefer an American interpretation like Sam Adams.

Disappointing. Amber with a white head and yeasty, flowery aroma. Unfortunately, the taste follows suit, resulting in a rare poor rating for a Paulaner brew.

Amber, with a white head. FLowery aroma, with a slight earthy/yeastiness in aroma and taste. Crisp but slightly bitter, and fruity.

When I hear the word ’Oktoberfest’, this is one of the beers I think of. It’s one of the better distributed Oktoberfests from Germany that I know of. Has a nice amount of sweeter maltiness, and very clean finish. Not very bitter.

Clear amber, nice head and aroma. Caramel. Medium bite. A little sweetness left.

The label says ’ale’ but it is an Oktoberfest Marzen so I’m confused. I thought Marzens and Oktoberfests were lagers by tradition. This is a pretty good beer. Smooth and malty.
