Bottle sample at a tasting at Tempo. Thanks avrashi. As Paulaner Oktoberfest Märzen. Clear amber. Aroma of malt, light toastiness, a touch of caramel and a bit of cardboard. Sweetish flavor, malty, a bit caramelly, a bit toasty, with a touch of cardboard. Medium-bodied.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2013 Virtually indistinguishable from the Ayinger Oktoberfest Marzen. Not sure how this beer differs from the 6% Oktoberfest Bier that one can seasonally procure in 1L cans. Anyway, delicious. My go to Octoberfest.

A few bottles into my stein. Caramel pour with a tan head. Light toasted malt and sweet notes with light bitterness in the aroma and taste. Nice malt character. Smooth drinker. Quite nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
11.2 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass with a clear, brownish amber color, off white/light tan "bubbles & cream" head foam, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The aroma was smooth Munich scent, light grain, some toast, a touch of malt sweetness, and a hint of caramel. The flavor was similar, with a medium body, lively carbonation, moderate hop bitterness that possessed earthiness and some lingering quality, and supportive malt. Clean, balanced, and a very quaffable seasonal. After sampling many others this autumn, this was my favorite Marzen to date.

Bottle, best by 5/14. Pours a light brown, thin head. Aroma is somewhat bread, with caramel notes. Flavor is same, but with a subtle sweetness that is balanced nicely. Medium to light mouthfeel with a slight bitter bite. Decent Oktoberfest.
