Commercial Description:
The Original Münchner Urtyp is another Münchner Original, a traditional tasty pleasure. A bit stronger and darker than the Original Münchner it has a convincingly noble malt aroma with a well-rounded bitter taste. In order to survive long transportation, it used to be brewed with a higher content of basic ingredients. Today this strong export beer is particularly popular at many of the public fairs from spring until autumn.

Very decent pilsener, urtyp style, which probably tries to resemble the classic bohemian pilsener style, at least that is what Brand Urtyp tries to achieve. But anyway, nice pilsener, bitter, hoppy, but good smelling as i’m not used to in most German pilseners.

Aroma of flowery hops and malts. Kinda sweet. Quite soft for an urtyp. Clear, golden coloured with a lasting, medium white head. Taste is sweet, a bit bitter, malty and a bit hoppy. Quite smooth , slightly bitter finish. Okay, but a little too sweet.

Clear and straw colored with a thin white head. Good carbonation. Strong malt aroma with some hay and grass clippings and earthy hops. Decent malt flavor that leaves the mouth puckered. Quite dry. Very one dimensional in flavor and too light in body for the style IMO. Speaking of style, this should be catagorized as a Helles I believe. As such, it falls in at below average.

Light colored, no specific aroma. Medium bodied, malty and flowery. Some hops shimmering through, not very much. Soft beer that drinks away fairly easily.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Light, golden blond colour. Small white head. Flowery, sweet & spicey aroma. Malt flavoured with a hoppy finish. Full bodied and impressive on the palate. A very well balanced beer. I like this, but wouldn’t say it was a pilsner.

tap at the Bavarian Grille. Clear bubbly yellow with a fluffy white head. My thoughts upon seeing this, was "damn, this looks just like a coors light". Bitter yeasty raisin aroma, taste is dry and powdery, a very dusty semi-sweet raisin and plum taste. hint of caramel on the finish. I don’t like this one.
