pivnizub (9005) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - MAY 13, 2005
Bottle: Hazy, dark amber coloured; not very impressive fruity (bananas), yeasty nose with some hints of alcohol; slightly malty-fruity taste, weak fruity aftertaste with only a tinge of hoppiness; quite thin bodied, almost watery; where is the rye ? Boring !

(bottle) Murky brown colour with a small diminishing of-white head. Very fruity (banana) and yeasty rye aroma. Slightly malty taste with banana notes, but a decent soft and yeasty finish. Thin bodied & unbalanced but drinkable.

Bottled (BB 11/2005)
Dark nut brown, small off-white head. Lemony, caramelly nose with barley. Medium-bodied. Wheat flavor, slightly malty. Interesting mixture of dortmunder-helles and wheat beer.

(Bottled@HBF 2005) Murky, dark brown coor with a small head. Very caramely-malty aroma with bananas. Fruity, wheaty flavor with slightly roasted and sweet malt. Medium-bodied, thick palate with soft, medium carbonation. A nice dunkelweizen.

Bottled. Smells like a wheat beer with banana and a hint of butterscotch. Brown color, grey head, fair lace. Light sweet, banana, light bitter, hint of butterscotch in the flavor as well, ver sparkling. So I knew of beers brewed with barley, wheat, rice, corn, oat and now rye. Don’t see the point though.

Dark brown with red. Aromas are banana and cloves with chocolate and, oddly, seaweed. Flavours are pretty malty and sweet with some saltiness. Chocolate and some pepper are also evident. Dry with some bitterness on the finish. An interesting beer.

Nice cloudy dark amber body topped with a thick and lasting beige bubbly head. Well-balanced malty/yeasty aroma with spicy hints. Taste is complex, perfectly balanced, and has good hoppy flavors with notes of brown sugar, various fruits and spices. Mild texture and fair finish. Very interesting product. Not to be missed when going to Germany.

Bottled, served at the brewpub in München. Malty, spicy aroma, full of rye malt and with some apparent yeast character, banana and clove being evidence of this, also some nice dark caramel sweetness and faint dark breadiness. Impressive deep red-brown color with red highlights, quite hazy, with a very long-lasting, foamy, ivory head that leaves thick, sticky lacing behind. Wonderful and complex flavor, sweet with notes of dark brown sugar and fruity yeast, also plenty of citric, spicy, minty rye characteristics, the yeast actually showing itself most towards the fruity, sweet finish. Palate is effervescent, body is medium. A unique and malty Roggen, and one that I found quite satisfying.

dortmunder (961) - Herdecke, GERMANY - SEP 24, 2004
Dark brown colour. Very malty for a weizen-like beer. Hints of toffee and caramel, a good amount of banana. Slightly sweet. Full-bodied. Like a good Dunkelweizen.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Like a dunkel weissen but not. Interesting. Murky reddish brown beer. Fresh tasting and full bodied. Light yeasty aroma. Bananas, cloves and bubblegum taste. Nice mouthfeel, but perhaps a bit watery at the end. Roasty, bitterish finish. Very nice.
