Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Dark red-amber, it has a small creamy light tan head that shrinks very slowly, leaving a hint of lace. The aroma is strong and rich with fermented and caramelised raisin, some plum, fresh whole wheat bread. The taste is rich, sweet but with balancing bitterness and a bit spicey with a light bite and with a dryish, slightly bitter-zesty finish. It has rich, caramelised, fermented whole wheat bread, raisins, hint of burnt caramel building near the finish, and a hint of pepperiness.

Appearance: Pours a dark auburn, with a tight knit layer of foam at the top. Aroma: A fruity mixture of banana and bubblegum. There are also scents of bready grain. Taste: Sweet and fruity malty flavors, bready yeast , bread crust, and a modest amount of bitter hopping in the end to balance out the sweetness. Also a hint of booze. Mouthfeel: Thick and full bodied. Overall: Exactly what I look for in a Double Bock/ Doppelbock! Not too sweet. You know its strong, but its not overpowering with booziness.

this beer is slightly darker than your typical amber and has a fluffy head. the aroma is malt, sweet, and slight hops. the taste is malty, with a sweet flavor, bitter at the front and ends sweet. over all this is very smooth and pretty good

Bottle 50cl. Colour is very nice and red / amber. The taste is almost similar to some Irish Red Ale but with more sugar and alcool. We can detect the typical caramalt aroma as well as german hops also. The beer is quite bitter with some spices flavours, it goes well with this kind of heavy beers.

wow. This beer just took me by surprise. Simply wonderful. It had a nice amber color with a nice creamy head. the head don’t last, but that hardly mattered. It had a nice malty aroma, with a slight confectionary trace. and the flavor was almost the same. very pleasant malt taste, with toffee undertones. it went down very easy., and overall just very pleased. jumped up to one of my top favorite beers, out of over 300 I have had.

This pours a nice reddish brown with a good head and some nice lace. The aroma is sweet and fruity and the flavor follows with good cherry and apple character. Rounded out by a mile roastiness and tons of caramel. Very nice.

Aroma is sweet, with some light hints of dark fruit, caramel malt and alcohol. Appearance is fair, but I do really like the dark amber hue. Taste of roasted malt and noticeable alcohol.

Dark amber pour with a white head. Aroma is fruity and malty. It had a creamy taste that seemed to coat my mouth. Sweet tasting and you can taste the alcohol. Very tasty beer.
