| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Aroma- Strong malt aroma, modest toasty, minimal hops, no diacetyl, low fruity esters of prunes and dark fruit, moderate alcohol
Appearance- Dark amber hue with orange highlights, good clarity, minimal off-white head quickly dissipates, minimal legs
Flavors- Rich and thick caramel flavors, significant melanoidins and moderate toasty flavors, clean lager yeast, no diacetyl, light essence of dark fruits, light alcohol smoothness near the end, slight hop bitterness, sweet finish
Mouthfeel- Full-bodied, moderate carbonation, very smooth texture
Overall- The prototype doppelbock style, rich and sweet malts dominate throughout with a smooth and creamy texture, very clean and crisp flavors, easy-drinking as the alcohol is well masked behind the malt profile, no discernible flaws here

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2009 More of an amber to yellow apeparance. Forms a medium tan colored head. Easy taste that doesn’t cause a smirk. Goes down smoothly with no bitterness. lancegill (6), , Texas, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Although I am not a huge fan of the dopplebock style, this is definitely one of the better representations. Nose is fairly complex, a bit floral, hints of spice, slightly sourish. Decent lace when poured from the bottle into a glass. Subtle chocolate and cofee undertones, molasses and raisens also come to mind. Very easy to drink, spicy and malty, not much hops presence though (one reason I’m not a regular dopplebock guy), high abv well hidden but the slightly metallic aftertaste takes away from the overall experience. Nice warming sensation which helps make this a great winter beverage, pairing nicely with standard German fare as well as spicy Thai (which was the case with myself prior to this writing). All said, a fine and classic brew from the Munich brewery which has been around for over 360 years. Makes me proud of my German heritage. And did I mention the 7.9 abv?

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 31, 2009 Pours reddish amber, with thin slightly tan head. Caramel flavors with a yeast finish. Aromas of bread dough, toffee, and oatmeal. This is a beer to drink when its cold, not too bad. wickedpete (626), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 30, 2009 Pours a clear amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma shows some raisins, toffee, caramel, and is somewhat lactic but is too subdued. Weak lacking flavor is similarly toffee-ish with some raisin followed by a slightly bitter toasted finish. Sweet all around. This is ok, but there’s an emptiness to the flavor that bothers me. Bradrcr (779), Renton, Washington, USA

Aroma is warm and caramel malt forward with light dark fruit and no hop character. Appearance is clear gold with a well maintained off-white head. Flavor is rich and candilike with low earthy bittering and some citrus. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a moderate carb texture. Overall, rich but not overwhelming, lacks a little of the overly rich character one might expect. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 28, 2009 Aroma de malte e toffee. Coloração caramelo avermelhada, lembrando whisky. Espuma densa. Sabor acentuadamente maltado, com predomínio de açúcares no início e amargor no final, sobrando um pouco de álcool.
