Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle; pors an amber/orange color with a small, off white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, dark fruit, and sweet malt. Very quaffable flavor. Balanced and blended nicely. Caramel, bread and dark fruit blend well. Moderate sweetness. Light yeasty elements with a solid bitterness. Lingering flavor. Very enjoyable stuff. Can’t believe I haven’t rated this yet.

Pours translucent amber in color with a light tan head. Straightforward sweet malt aroma, with some caramel and maple syrup. Flavor is also sweet malt dominated, with some bread and toffee. Nice and warming going down. A good example of a straightforward doppelbock, but not quite on the level of the more complex versions like the Celebrator.

On tap, Flying Saucer-Cordova Served in tulip glass, a deep amber. Flavor was deeply malty, a very satisfying beer. The alcohol further adds to great mouthfeel experience.

Pours a dark amber with a small head. The nose was reaking of sweet caramel and with a hint of dark fruits. Flavor was malty, caramel sweet with a tough of dark fruits. The alcohl and complexity was hidden well.

Bottle pours dark amber with thick, beige head. Uber-malty nose with tootsie-roll, molasses, maple, caramel candy, toffee. Flavor has that sweet-malty center, with a touch of sour breadiness, going into mild bitterness for good balance. Bittersweet aftertaste. Nice all-around flavor.
