alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Oct 27, 2008 Bottle; pors an amber/orange color with a small, off white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, dark fruit, and sweet malt. Very quaffable flavor. Balanced and blended nicely. Caramel, bread and dark fruit blend well. Moderate sweetness. Light yeasty elements with a solid bitterness. Lingering flavor. Very enjoyable stuff. Can’t believe I haven’t rated this yet. GMUcrew7 (353), Mason, Ohio, USA Oct 26, 2008 Pours translucent amber in color with a light tan head. Straightforward sweet malt aroma, with some caramel and maple syrup. Flavor is also sweet malt dominated, with some bread and toffee. Nice and warming going down. A good example of a straightforward doppelbock, but not quite on the level of the more complex versions like the Celebrator. Served in tulip glass, a deep amber. Flavor was deeply malty, a very satisfying beer. The alcohol further adds to great mouthfeel experience. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Oct 18, 2008 Pours a dark amber with a small head. The nose was reaking of sweet caramel and with a hint of dark fruits. Flavor was malty, caramel sweet with a tough of dark fruits. The alcohl and complexity was hidden well. JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Oct 17, 2008 Bottle pours dark amber with thick, beige head. Uber-malty nose with tootsie-roll, molasses, maple, caramel candy, toffee. Flavor has that sweet-malty center, with a touch of sour breadiness, going into mild bitterness for good balance. Bittersweet aftertaste. Nice all-around flavor. xShanex (47), Mansfield, Texas, USA Oct 12, 2008 Pours amber with carmel frothy head. Not a big fan of double bock style but this isnot too bad. Have another? If you goget it for me. Moggman (187), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours brown/red with little head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Flavor is sweet with dark fruits and malt throughout. Little hop in the finish. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Oct 12, 2008 avoided for reasons i cannot explain....too bad, this is a nice doppel raisiny and sticky sweet it is full of malt and has an interesting full aroma as well. spicy (and yes burnt ryan) and true to form with a light yeasty and pleasant mouthfeel. i would encourage all to try this one. alcohol nicely recessed. i should lower several doppel scores in my profile as this is clearly a superior brew.
