Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Pours red-orange, unfiltered and bubbly with little head. Sweet aroma, sweet and spicy flavor with plenty of malt and bread flavor. Distinctive flavor, but not overpowering like a few other dopplebocks.

Amber, sweet, syrupy, creamy, caramel, bready, malty, little spice, little fruity, little alcohol.

Pours dark, clear red, thin to middle sized head that dissipates quickly. Looking diagonally into this beer -- it’s red as Mars. Nice looking brew thanks to the color. Syrupy, sugary, slightly alcoholic, malty aroma. Taste... Syrupy caramel malt, a bit of breadiness, a tad alcoholic. Tingly carbonation, slightly watery, but not drastically so. Solid, solid effort. Thumbs up.

Great aroma, it is almost enough just to smell this stuff. The appearance of this beer reminds me very much of Spaten Optimator. Not as fruity as Optimator, more "burnt" flavors on the tongue, nearly spicy. More complex than expected, every mouthful is a new delight. I really enjoyed this brew, I would go out of my way to find it if need be.

Love the colour of this beer...an invigorating burnt hazy brown-tinged orange sepia deep mahogany rose. Smell of malts, apricot, rum. Mouthfeel is smooth; almost creamy on the tongue and leaves a faint sweet tingle on the edge of the lips (in an almost pornographic sort of way). Taste falls intot he spectacular range with hints of ham, toffee, buttered carrots, brown sugar, caramel, spices, barley, and malt. Aftertaste is well rounded with some slight bitterness and cognac0like sweetness.

Dark amber body with a frothy tan and stable beige head. Mildly, buttery aroma of malt, fruity yeast, moderated hop, caramel. Complex flavor, smooth mouthfeel with caramel, sweet and fruity malt and nice bottom fermentation. Well balanced, roasty and liqueric aftertaste.

Dark orange. Very sweet, malty and syrupy. Butter, caramel, chocolate. First thing that popped into my head was ’tootsie roll’, and I feel thats pretty accurate. Delicious, but very sweet
