Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Dark orange. Very sweet, malty and syrupy. Butter, caramel, chocolate. First thing that popped into my head was ’tootsie roll’, and I feel thats pretty accurate. Delicious, but very sweet

Dark orange color with a thin white head. Sweet malty aroma with notes of honey. Malty flavor with an almost syrupy taste and feel to it. Crisp citrus finish with a slight bitterness and alcohol flavor. There is either more to this beer than I can pick out, or it teases me into thinking so.

On tap in our hotel in Garmisch. Pours amber with a small head. Smell is light with a little sweet and spicey aromas. Taste is wonderfull, starts sweet then turns dry and bitter and ends with a slight alcohol flavor.

Pours a nice amber with frothy tan head. Mildly sweet aroma, some nice fruit notes in there. Lots of caramel in the flavor above the expected maltiness. Balance is wonderful, extremely pleasant to drink.

Pours a copper amber with a thin off white head. The nose is sweet, bready, grainy, light alcohol, grassy, malty. The flavor is sweet, grainy, bready, caramel, fruity, light alcohol. Sweet mouthfeel with a little alcohol showing through.

The first thing that hits in the aroma is spicy and flowery hops and some sweet maltiness and warm alcohol. As it warms, it wofts dark fruits like prunes, raisens even maybe strawberries! Has a thick but fleetung creamy tan head. This great beer pours a clear darker amber. Tastes much like the aroma. A great beer indeed.
