Commercial Description:
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Interested in a delicious malt bomb? Look no further than this amber pouring maltfest of a beer. Always good. Paulaner makes some damn fine brews folks. Lost of caramel, yeast, and some hints of fruit in the nose. Flavor is yeasty, caramel malts, sweet...I liked it.

Aroma of caramel, orange brown body, sweet flavour, a little strong the presence of alcohol but an easy drinking beer.

Aroma is sweet and fruity plus a hint of alcohol. Pours a clear dark copper color with a bubly head that disapears almost immediately. Taste is once again sweet and fruity; raisins, a bit of plum, plus some caramel and toffee. Finishes with a smooth, dry flavor of nuts and smoke. Smooth and very drinkable.

Round, malty and caramal flavors. Enough hop bitterness to keep it from being cloying. Spiciness in the finish. Very nice. Goes well with steak and sharp chesses. doppelbock the others are comparing themselves to.

I loved this beer. 12 oz bottle poured into a stem glass. Poured a clear dark amber color with a huge foamy tan head. Aroma was of caramel and some dark fruits, maybe plums. Flavor consists of sweet malt, caramel dark fruit and honey. Medium/heavy bodied with average carbonation. I was pleased with this beer. Bought as a single, because I am skeptical of some imported Germans. Will purchase a sixer of this on my next visit.

What can I say, I love German beer! Appearance of an amber brown with a thick creamy tan head. Slight hoppiness with caramel, maple, and fruit. Nice beer to have on a cold night, belly warmer.

draft, tasting, biergarten, tivoli. aroma not quite strong enough. sawdust, dark fruits, pours clear brown with nice head, flavor is burnt caramel, honey, alc - a little strangely balanced, but all the flavors that are present are great.

Bottled. Very easy drinking doppelbock. Pours a clear bronze colour with a tan head, no lacing. Big aroma of caramel and molassas (and I swear to God corn tortillas). More molassas in the flavour plus some rock candy and rich malts. Enjoyable.
