NomDeBeer (397), Maryland, USA Aug 30, 2008 Aroma is sweet and fruity plus a hint of alcohol. Pours a clear dark copper color with a bubly head that disapears almost immediately. Taste is once again sweet and fruity; raisins, a bit of plum, plus some caramel and toffee. Finishes with a smooth, dry flavor of nuts and smoke. Smooth and very drinkable. pepperford (115), robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA Aug 29, 2008 Round, malty and caramal flavors. Enough hop bitterness to keep it from being cloying. Spiciness in the finish. Very nice. Goes well with steak and sharp chesses. doppelbock the others are comparing themselves to. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 28, 2008 I loved this beer. 12 oz bottle poured into a stem glass. Poured a clear dark amber color with a huge foamy tan head. Aroma was of caramel and some dark fruits, maybe plums. Flavor consists of sweet malt, caramel dark fruit and honey. Medium/heavy bodied with average carbonation. I was pleased with this beer. Bought as a single, because I am skeptical of some imported Germans. Will purchase a sixer of this on my next visit. mgraider86 (6), Waterford, California, USA does not count Aug 26, 2008 What can I say, I love German beer! Appearance of an amber brown with a thick creamy tan head. Slight hoppiness with caramel, maple, and fruit. Nice beer to have on a cold night, belly warmer. Pinball (2685), Allerød, Denmark Aug 26, 2008 draft, tasting, biergarten, tivoli. aroma not quite strong enough. sawdust, dark fruits, pours clear brown with nice head, flavor is burnt caramel, honey, alc - a little strangely balanced, but all the flavors that are present are great. BelgianBeerGal (1275), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 26, 2008 Bottled. Very easy drinking doppelbock. Pours a clear bronze colour with a tan head, no lacing. Big aroma of caramel and molassas (and I swear to God corn tortillas). More molassas in the flavour plus some rock candy and rich malts. Enjoyable. scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Aug 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours a medium-thick, creamy, off-white head which tops off the clear, bubbly, deep orange-brown body, little lacing. Sweet aroma of leather, peach, grape, and barley. Velvety, not as thin-bodied as most lagers. Leaves a bit of film on my tongue. Complex flavor, rich, malty and peachy with some high notes at first, but a little too sweet. Fades into a pleasant bitter, dry finish. thill25 (216), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2008 12 oz bottle...pours amber brown with a fluff, mostly diminishing off-white head...no lacing. Aromas of maple syrup, caramel, spices, the dark malts and some alcohol. Flavor is sweet, and dry with notes of the above , but the alcohol is persistent and warming. Palate is thin, dry, with low levels of carbonation, and a moderately bitter sweet finish. Not overly impressed...
