MitchWayne (264), Kokkola, Finland Aug 22, 2008 Sweet, a bit fruity, dry and nicely malty. A bit too sweet maybe but I do dig it. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Aug 19, 2008 (Bottle). Aroma is sweet caramel with distinct alcohol. Color a beautiful dark red. Head is small and whitish. Flavor sweet caramel and malt, but with way too much alcohol taste intruding, leading to a disturbing imbalance. Overall, an ok doppelbock, but nowhere near the Celebrator (or even Optimator) class. BeerViking (193), Brentford, Greater London, England Aug 15, 2008 This pours deep amber with a fine white head and has a sweet & vinous nose full of raisin and dried plum scents. Initially tastes sweet and full-bodied, but as the flavour develops the sweetness is balanced by a nutty hop character, lots of malt, a hint of roastiness and a dry alcoholic bite. The finish is dry and gently bitter. Theis (3617), Denmark Aug 15, 2008 Bottle in a train - going to Sunes birthdaysparty - shared with Mette & Lars. Clear dark red/brown - white head. High malty, raisins, brries, fruity, caramel, amber malts, roasted, nutty, light hoppy. Finishes with a alcho-bite !!! Skidds (252), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 14, 2008 Poured an amber brown with a medium off-white head. Fruity and malty aroma. Quite flavourful with hints of caramel, malts and fruit. Medium bodied with a slightly bitter aftertaste. punkeedo (465), San Antonio, Texas, USA Aug 13, 2008 2008 Bottle. Light aroma of caramel and malts. Gorgeous appearance: dark amber with hints of orange and a light off-white head. The flavor and palate could be fuller and more complex, but this beer is robust nonetheless. Quite malty with a dark, alcohol taste as well. Very good beer. TapMaster (16), , California, USA Aug 12, 2008 Amber color, medium head, tasted cherries on the first sip, malty not bad I really liked it , wyzzywyz22 (754), Wirral, Merseyside, England Aug 12, 2008 Bottle, Carringtons, Chorlton. Poured a dark amber/brown with a large, dissipating off white head. Aroma packed with malt and some spice. Flavour was sweet and sticky and on the rich side of the scale. Brandy sodden dark fruit, roasted malt, nuts and some hop in there. Certainly smooth and flavoursome, but lacks balance to its detriment, and the finish wasn’t quite there either which knocked marks off what nearly could have been quite a high score.
