COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas' time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with fizzy tannish head. Almost looks like apple cider. Aroma is fruity plum, raisins, sweet malt, bran muffin and a tad bit of alcohol. Great malty sweet flavor with hints of raisin, prune and nutty grains. One of my favs for sure.

Tap. Decent head, with an awesome texture. It’s like silk, very tiny bubbles. Lasts quite long as well. Color of the head is a bit tanned, while the body is orange and clear (does not seem to match). In the aroma I find something like autumn leaves, sand and some honey. Taste is a bit disappointing, quite plain, a bit sweet and some bitterness, with the sensations of the aroma recurring. The body however is decent. Overall, not my bock, but worth a try.

Pours a reddish brown. Aroma of sweet malt and maybe some plums. Taste of malts, bread, and alcohol. Very nice.

Bottle. $1.99 for a single. Pours a slightly opaque carmel copper color with a minimal white head that collars around the glass. The nose is fruity, caramel, toffee, and a slight biscuity. Almost has an artificial banana smell as well. Medium mouthfeel. Now, this is a pretty sweet beer, maltwise. Caramel and biscuity tasting with a slight bitterness to it in the end. For 7.9% the alcohol is pretty hidden but as this warms you get a slight warming effect in the end.

Bottle. Hazy mahogany with a small dense off white head that fades to practically nothing. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, bread and light alcohol. The flavor is very malty, lots of ripe fruit, bread and some caramel, no alcohol taste. Medium body with mild carbonation and a smooth, soft mouth feel. Not as good as I remember but still a nice beer.

Sticky, bready, complex yeastiness, expertly malted, subtle dried fruit and honey spice undertones. Delicious.
